The room is dark and eerie. The only light comes from a screen that has multiple images on it. In front of the screen sits a man, his eyes flickering over images. With swift hand gestures the pictures move around on the screen, letting him take in each still. For a while that is all that is happening.
Soon the door opens and two men step in. One of them has brown eyes that show no warmth whatsoever. His suit is a half a size to big and needs to be taken in.
Next to him is another man, his eyes steel gray and show no empathy for anyone. He is taller than his counterpart that he walked in with, but has no more power than he does.
“Sir, you asked to see us?” says brown eyes, adjusting his tie.
The man stops looking at the pictures and lets his head drop for a moment. Spinning around in his chair, he looks up at the two men in front of him. Both of them work for him, along with everyone else at the Skyscraper.
“Yes,” he says quietly, almost to the point of a whisper. “You two need to keep an eye on Alexis Bradshaw for me. There is some unfinished business that she can help with in the future.”
Brown eyes opens his mouth to speak, but is at a loss for words. Then after he raises an eyebrow in question brown eyes speaks up. “Sir, are you sure about that? Can’t you find someone else?”
“No, I can’t,” he says sharply. Standing up from the chair he strides over to where both men are. Glaring at them, he takes in how one looks full of fear and worry while the other is emotionless. “There is no one else on this entire god damm planet that can finish what was started years ago. We can’t program robots to do what we want and no other human has the knowledge that she has about the matter.”
Turning on his heel, he goes back over to the screen and looks at the images. In each one there is Alexis, but in several she is not alone. Sitting back down in the chair he pulls up and keyboard that is projected onto the table. After tapping a few keys some names pop up.
A sly smile crosses his face as he leans back in the chair; a plan already forming in his mind. As his mind reaches the end of the plan he laughs heartily.
“Go, now,” he commands, refusing to let his eyes leave the screen.
Quickly the two men exit the room, leaving him alone once again.
With the cunning smile still there, he rearranges the pictures so they are in chronological order. Now in front of his eyes is a timeline of Alexis’s life from the moment she left the Skyscraper and had her life altered forever.
“Alexis Bradshaw you are going to wish that you can travel back in time to fix everything after I am through with you.”
Pushing away from the screen, he gets up and walks out. Still on the screen are the images until everything in the rooms shuts off and becomes a room of darkness and despair once more.
