The next morning was just like any other. Alexis woke up, showered and dressed and then ate breakfast. Nothing was abnormal about the morning. The only thing that could be considered different was that she had failed her goal of having one of the most popular bands in the world Deleted. That put a damper on things. Now if she would to have actually been able to Delete them, then it would have been the best morning ever.

Sitting down at the kitchen table she turned on the TV. The paper thin TV screen came to life. Right away the first thing she saw was an infomercial for a new type of blender. Did they really need to improve on something that was already great? Guess that was what people did from the beginning of time, just recreate the same product but make it a tiny bit better. All it meant was that there would be some bugs that were not fixed right away and people would then complain to the company, and ask for a refund, or deal with the issues.

Picking up her toast, she took a bite. Chewing it slowly she flipped through the channels. When she saw a news anchor on the screen she stopped looking. Turning up the volume she listened as the man with graying hair talked about the current news. Not once did he mention a group of girls breaking into the control room in the Skyscraper. It figured that the FBI, CIA, President or anyone else would not want the world to know that a bunch of teenage girls were able to get in. After all, loads of people much older than them had tried to break in before, and the reason they showed up on the news was because they failed to reach the control room.

Finishing off the toast, she set the plate in the sink. Walking out of the kitchen Alexis almost ran into her aunt. “Oh, hey Alexis I was just coming to talk to you. Your uncle and I are going on a short trip and we wanted you to house-sit for us.”

Alexis shrugged her shoulders, “Sure, whatever.” Pushing past her aunt she headed up the stairs to her room. Once there she shut the door and sighed. Of course they expected her to house-sit while they were away, for they were not going to hire anyone else. That would just mean paying someone, when a blood-related family member was expected to do it for free.

Going over and sitting on her bed, Alexis listened to her aunt and uncle talking. She was able to pick out what they were talking about from upstairs. Showed how loud they were in the almost empty house. All they talked about though was the trip and politics. Older people were obsessed with politics. Something about how there needed to be a new president, the government needed to change and get rid of Deleting. Alexis never paid much attention to any of it. A president that allowed Deleting should have a place in office according to her book.

Out of the blue her phone went off. Picking up the slim piece of plastic, she looked at the message. Party tonight @ Gwen’s house @ 8. Be there! A party was what Alexis needed. Time out of her house would do her good. For months she had just spent her time locked away researching the Skyscraper, Deleting and finding the other girls. Parties had been the last thing on her mind.

Tossing the phone aside, she just looked at the wall in front of her. If she had laser vision there would have been a hole in the wall ages ago. Alexis did not want that as her only superpower though, invisibility would also be neat. That power would have come in handy for her personal gain. Failing science tests seemed to be her specialty, but if she had that power then she could have cheated and gotten an ‘A’.

Getting any type of power was not going to happen any time soon. Falling into a vat of acid or being bit by some radioactive animal to get powers was something only in comic books and movies. She would just have to wish upon a star and hope for the best. Yet, that was just something that was also just in the movies. It seemed that everything good was always in books and movies and never real life.
