Peridot's POV:
I slammed my fist into the stone wall, letting out a choked sob. My head pounded, and tears continued to stream down my face. I was unable to breathe normally, and my heart burned like a blazing fire. My nose ran, but I did not bother to wipe it, and I turned away from the wall slowly. My face felt like it was burning at over 100 degrees, and I stared at the metal bars in front of me. How could you let this happen? This is all your fault...why the fuck did it have to be her. Why did you get so attached. This is all your fault. Nobody's but yours.
I sorrowfully trudged up to them, and wrapped my fingers around one of them. I then placed my other hand on another cold bar, and leaned my head forward. My forehead hit the restricting bars, and the icy cold was unwelcoming. I closed my eyes as more warm tears spilled out, and I screamed at the top of my lungs, not caring who heard me. The scream echoed off the walls down across the other cells, but that was the only sound I got in response.
I released the bars and pushed off, walking back toward the wall. I tangled my right hand into my messy hair, and my free hand slapped my forehead. I repetitively slapped it, my eyebrows furrowed and my heart hurting. I let out another sob and thrashed my fists in the air, staring at the ceiling now with swollen eyes. I couldn't stop crying, and I knew I was always going to be left with this horrible regret. I gritted my teeth, and inhaled deeply.
. . . .
"Can't you go any faster?!" Jasper whisper-shouted to me, literally breathing down my neck. "Shut the fuck up and just let me do this!" I hissed, not turning my head to look at her. There we stood in front of a large safe in one of the Beach City Banks, after hours. I had placed a small bomb onto the door of the safe, and was now typing in the code (only I know) to activate it. ...8..9...6...4...3...2...4...7...andddd 2. The small device made a small beep sound to confirm activation, and I chuckled in victory. "Alright let's go!" I whispered, quickly hopping over the front counter.
Jasper followed as we dashed behind the nearest corner to avoid impact from the explosi-KA-BOOM! Both Jasper and I screamed as the countdown beat us to the corner. I felt a hot pressure that sent me flying forward into the front windows. I wasn't heavy enough to breakthrough the window pane, so I splatted into it like some retarded bird. Jasper's huge bulky body shattered through the window, sending her tumbling down the parking lot, hitting a parked car. I slid down slowly, and hit the floor with my back.
I groaned lowly, and hesitantly sat up, rubbing my aching head."You okay, Jasper?!" I yelled, glancing through the jagged hole of the window."Yeeahhp!" I heard her call back in a cracky voice. Yeah, she's gonna be sore in the morning. I hadn't even realized that the loud alarm bell had set off immediately after the explosion, and we had to haul ass if we were gonna get our hands on any of that money. "C'MON LET'S GO WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, and Jasper's head shot up. I clumsily climbed to my feet, and scrambled to the safe as fast as I could. The safe was in fact open, and the door of it was barely dangling off by a hinge. I took out a sack and reached into the safe. I urgently filled the sack with as much cash as it could carry, and Jasper quickly followed soon after.
"We really need a more efficient way to open safes..." I grumbled, continuing to fill the bag. I froze as soon as I heard police sirens in the distance, and I began to internally panic. "Dammit, it's the fuzz! Pack faster!" Jasper shouted, speeding up. As soon as my bag was already almost overflowing, I tied it closed tightly."Jasper we gotta go!" I whimpered, watching as she just continued stuffing her backpack. The front door was kicked open with a loud bang, and I flinched harshly. "FREEZE!! DROP THE BAGS AND PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!!" a female voice hollered. "You parked the car around the back, right?" I whispered to Jasper in a barely audible voice, with both of our backs still turned to the police officer.
