-The next day-

Texting her wouldn't be SUCH a bad thing, right? Just one little text. Just a little 'hey' or something, right? Wouldn't hurt anybody. I laid on my bed with my upper half dangling off upside down, as I stared at the ticket in my hand. I then looked over at my phone, and decided to reach over and grab it. I started SLOWLY typing the number in, and once I finished, I shakily titled it as 'Lapis'. Okay... okay, Peridot. You can do this. Just one little text. Just to let her know you got the number. Then you'll slowly drift apart over time with your boring conversations, and you won't have to talk to her again. Yeah.

Peridot: Hey it's Peridot :)

I clamped a hand over my mouth and squeaked. OH MY GOD AAHHHHH. I stared at my phone, a little afraid to receive a response from the smoking hot bitch.

Lapis: Oh hey!

I stared at the response with wide eyes, and I remained like that for nearly 10 whole minutes. SHIT. I HAVE TO RESPOND. My thumbs shakily raised up to my phone.

Peridot: How've you been?

Lapis: Good! How about you?

Fucking fantastic. I thought for a moment.

Peridot:  Better than I deserve lol

Lapis: Haha me too

I looked up at the ceiling for a long while. Okay, Peridot. It's going good so far. Just keep your cool.

Peridot: Hey do u have any plans today?

"OH FUCK TOO COOL TOO COOL!!!" I screamed out loud, shooting up as I tried to unsend the message. However, it was already sent, and I couldn't take it back. I turned my phone off, and flopped forward onto the bed, mashing my face into the pillow. "Ohh GOOODDD!!!" I let out a muffled groan, just staring into the blackness of my eyelids. Why did you do that?! You're gonna end up getting too close! PERIDOT YOU ARE GOING TO JAIL. BZZZZZZT.

Lapis: Nope. I don't have my shift til later tonight.

Peridot: Awesome. Wanna hang out at the coffee shop?

My thumbs practically had minds of their own at this point, and I was internally screeching. I dropped my phone back onto the bed, and covered my eyes with my hands. I waited. And waited. It felt like I was waiting for a whole 30 minutes. The small cursed device them buzzed again, causing me to screech loudly. I fell backwards, tumbling off of the bed. My whole view of my bedroom rotated violently, and before I knew it, my back hit the floor. I groaned, slowly sitting up. I peeked over the edge of the bed at my phone, and stared. I hope that was Lapis. Wait no I don't...yes I do.

I quickly leaped back onto the bed, and unlocked my phone.

Lapis: Sounds good! What time?

I'm not gonna lie. I wanted to see her as soon as possible. So I stared up at my band poster for a moment, then back down at the phone, thinking. It was 4:32 PM.

Peridot: No rush, but maybe around 5?

Lapis: Ok. See u then :)

I can't believe I just did that. I just set up a practical date with this girl. AND I SOUNDED URGENT AS FUCK. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! I grumbled, falling backwards onto my bed with a small squeak. KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. I looked over at my bedroom door, not moving from my spot. "What?!" I shouted. "Can I come in?!" Jasper's voice boomed from the other side of the door. "No!" I replied grumpily. The door then swung open, and in stomped Jasper herself. "Too late." she stated, looked over at me with a grin. "I could've been butt naked in here, Jasper." I grumbled, closing my eyes.

"But you weren't, were you?" Jasper shot back, and I rolled my eyes. "Any who, I heard screaming and a thump noise in here, so I was just checkin' up on you." she explained, plopping down onto my bed near my feet. "I'm fine." I deadpanned, rolling to my side. "What's goin' on with you? Ame told me you don't like missions anymore." Jasper said, looking over at me. "I never said that." I replied. "Hm. Well you have been acting kinda strange since yesterday morning." she claimed. I checked the time on my phone, and slowly climbed out of my bed.

"I have to go." I muttered, taking my hoodie off of the floor. "Where are you going?" the buff woman asked, raising an eyebrow. "I just have to pick something up. Don't wait up for me." I replied lazily, slipping the hoodie on. Jasper only hummed in response, and stood back up. "Well alright then. I'll seeya around, Peri. Ya know I'm here if you ever need to talk." she explained, sounding a bit concerned. "Thanks, but really, I'm fine." I assured, grabbing the keys off of my TV stand. With that, I left the house, and hopped into my car.

. . . .

I pulled into the parking lot of the coffee shop, and I took a deep breath. You can do this. Whatever you do, don't embarrass yourself again. I turned the car off, and got out, looking up at the sign. I slammed the car door shut, and walked up to the entrance. I hesitantly opened the door, and it made a jingle noise that startled me. I looked towards the tables, and sure enough, there sat Lapis Lazuli sitting at one. She was looking down at her phone, and she hadn't noticed me yet.

I slyly walked up to her table, and slid into the seat across from her. "This seat taken?" I asked, placing my hands on the table. Lapis's eyes darted up to me, and she looked somewhat surprised. "Peridot!" she beamed, placing her phone down. "Heyyyy." I squeaked, feeling my face heat up. Her blue eyes were looking extra bright today, and I couldn't help but stare. "Im glad you're here." she said, tracing her finger up and down the table. "I sure as hell am too, heh." I replied nervously.

"I ordered our two coffees already. I hope you don't mind! I just knew that owed you for the one you bought me yesterday..." she explained, looking to the side slightly. "Aww, you didn't have to do that." I said, giggling. "It was my pleasure. Anyways, you never told me where you work." Lapis said, resting her elbows on the table. SHIT.

"W- well... I don't exactly... have a job at the moment. I'm still... looking for one." I admitted, looking down. It was partly true. I didn't have a job. But I wasn't exactly LOOKING for one since I didn't need to. I already steal all of the money I actually need. But she doesn't need to know that. "Ah, I see. Do you have your own house?" she asked. "I actually live with four other people. They kinda help pay the rent and just let me stay there." I explained, shrugging. "I'm not a mooch! I promised them that I would pay them back as soon as I got a job." I lied, fidgeting with my fingers. "Haha, yeah I get it. My ex-girlfriend actually kinda helped me on my feet after my parents kicked me out." Lapis explained. GIRLFRIEND?!!! SHE IS GAY. "Your parents kicked you out?" I asked, tilting my head.

"Yeahhhh, they weren't exactly keen on the idea me stay there with them bein' a jobless loser. Well that and they didn't like the fact that I'm bisexual." she replied. "Tsk. Jerks. No offense." I said, raising my hands slightly. "Ah, no worries. They are jerks. So my girlfriend Pearl let me stay with her so I could find a job." she explained. Wait. Pearl? "I heard you say 'ex'. What happened between you two?" I asked. "Ugh, yeah Pearl. She dumped me for some criminal." she grumbled, rolling her eyes. OH MY GOD IT'S OUR PEARL. My friend Amethyst has a girlfriend named Pearl. Pearl left Lapis for some criminal?! It had to be Amethyst. It couldn't be a coincidence. "Do you happen to know the girl's name?" I asked curiously.

"Yeah, I heard her call her 'Amy' or 'Ame' or something like that..." Yep. "I've actually arrested the girl before. Her full name is Amethyst Quartz. She has one hell of a record at the Beach City Police Department. Of course the second she gets released, Pearl goes running to her." Lapis said, and her tone became increasingly sad. Yes, Amethyst has actually been arrested several times. She isn't exactly as good an escapist as me or Jasper. Her most recent release was a little over 4 months ago. That must've been when she got with Pearl. "I'm sorry to hear that..." I said, pretending not to know of Amethyst.

"Eh, what can you do. Besides, I moved on already. She wasn't worth crying a river over. Anywho, I've said enough about myself. Tell me more about you, Peridot." she said, resting her chin in her hands. "O-oh, right, hehe... I-I like aliens..." I stammered, feeling warm blood rush all throughout my face to my shoulders.
