6 years later...
"Love have you seen my gray hooded jacket?" Declan asked me as i was finishing up cleaning the kitchen counters. "It's not on the coat rack?" "nope," he replied shaking his head. I sighed "see this is exactly why you should put stuff where they belong. That way, you won't lose anything," I remarked. He calmly strode upstairs to our bedroom and yelled "I found it!" "Good, it completes the outfit," I laughed. I grabbed Sunny's birthday gift and Dec's hand and ran out the door locking it and heading into the car. Declan and I have been so busy with traveling the world that we haven't seen Sunny in a year and we haven't talked in a while. I can't wait to see what's new in her life. Jeez, I can't believe she's turning twenty-one! Ew gross my little sister can legally drink alcohol!
It took a little over an hour to get to the club my parents rented out for Sunny to make her day perfect. I walked over to the propped open door, her gift in Declan's arms Sunny looked beautiful as she brightened the room with her smile at the sight of us. "Oh, come in, come in! How is my engaged sister and soon to be brother-in-law?" She wondered as she both gave us hugs. Oh, did I forget that Declan and I are engaged? It happened when we were in Santorini Greece. "I haven't heard the proposal story yet, nobody has,it was kind of a surprise engagement. Do tell sister dear!" Sunny eagerly insisted. I laughed, "later, today is your day to celebrate! I don't want to take away from the gorgeous birthday girl on her special day, you only turn twenty-one once in your life!"
I brushed off her previous engagement comment. "Happy birthday Sun-day, where should we put our gift?" Declan wondered. "Over there," Sunny answered, pointing to the counters next to the bar where hundreds of gifts are piled on top of each other. "Is Jenna here?" I asked her. She nodded and pointed to the karaoke station set up on the front of the dance floor. My sister was singing tequila as a duet with her new boy toy, fitting for a twenty-first birthday. Thank God there weren't many lyrics at all, saves all of us the embarrassment of hearing her genuinely sing her heart in public. "TEQUILA!" they both shouted into the crowd of Sunny's friends cheering them on. Jenna gasped as she saw both of us and the crowd turned their attention over to Declan and I. They all ran up, a sea of college kids charged toward us and boar their eyes practically into my ring.
"VERA! Look at that big rock on your hand it looks so heavy, how do you hold it up?" one kid shouted over the music. Another screamed, "can I try it on Vera?" Declan and I laughed at their astonishment. "No, leave it alone. When the party dies down a bit I'll tell you all the engagement story." They all smiled and got back to dancing to the pre-recorded tracks as they made a path for my parents to get through the crowd. "Oh my word, look at my baby and her husband to be! You must tell us the engagement story!" My sister cried grabbing my finger to examine the ring. "We will but later, enjoy Sunny's day stop fawning over the engagement please." I instructed. They nodded and got back to singing more duets. Sun, Jenna and I danced to the beat on the dance floor and all Declan could do was watch with a smile tugging at his lips.
After what felt like an eternity of dancing and opening gifts, we all calmed down and some guests had left leaving a small percentage of people left to tell the story to. "Is everyone ready for the long awaited story?" Everyone nodded intently. We began to explain: It all happened in Santorini and we had a lovely getaway private island with a view of the ocean. We were eating dinner that the cook served to us and all of a sudden Declan gets up to leave and comes back directing me to follow rose petals to the front door. When I opened the front door, there were stars everywhere in the sky and all of a sudden there were fireworks being set off from across the ocean. They spelled out will you marry me and I look down to see Declan on one knee. I start sobbing automatically of course and I nod my head for I don't know how long as he slips the ring onto my finger. A photographer had then given us the pictures we took when the sun was setting because we wanted a mini photoshoot:
