We drive off, it's fair to say that went alright. Well I didn't get hurt. These are the jobs I want to do. The easy ones.
He turns the music down and turns to me "Do not tell your dad, he will kill me for bringing you along" he states.
"So, why have you been distant with me?" I ask randomly. It's been bugging me.
"I haven't, hows your head?" He switches the questions back onto me. I see how it is. King of diverting.
"Eh, I have good days and bad days, these medications are rough though, bad side effects but they work so can't really complain" I say and shrug my shoulders.
He pulls the car up at the side of the road and I can't see where we are because it's dark but I know for sure we aren't home. Please tell me this isn't going to end up with my death.
He gets out of the car and begins to walk away. I follow suit of course because I'm nosey and don't feel comfortable on my own. He stays silent but he knows I'm following him.
"Where are you going?" I ask.
He ignores me.
"Alright then ignore me"
Ignores me again.
"Seriously Jace, where are you going I don't feel comfortable wandering around somewhere at night" I whine like a child.
"Will you shut up and just come with me, I know you'll recognise it soon. You'll thank me for it" He says.
Then, I recognise the place. It's the park we used to come to when we were younger. So many memories at this place. I run over and plonk down on a swing and he does the same. I swing like a child. He just stays still on his swing. Boring. I haven't been here in years. We remain silent. A comfortable silence. It starts to sprinkle with rain, then it begins to full on pour it down with rain, Jace throws his hood up, sighs and makes a run for it heading back to the car. Me? Nah, I love rain. I continue to swing. I love storms.
"Kady, you dumbass will you get in the damn car it's pissing it down!" He yells from the car.
He shouldn't be surprised that I stayed here.
He knows I love storms.
"Nah, I'm fine here" I yell back.
I can feel the eye roll. Then he runs over to me. He's inches away from my face, he's huffing and puffing from the exercise.
I swing back and forth slightly loving life."So, are we going to kiss in the rain like the true cringe worthy teenagers we're destined to be" I can't be romantic at all, the sarcasm is evident.
"Fuck no pal, you need gum" He snips back quickly. I can't tell if he's joking or if my breath actually smells. Just as I rise my hand up to my mouth to do the 'breath test', he launches me into the air and over his shoulder.
This gives me deja-vu.
Then he runs over to the car, which was a very uncomfortable bumpy ride for me. I think his shoulder has actually winded me. He chucks me into the passenger side.
"That is an effective way to get me to move" I say to him and he chuckles.
He drives home and sings along to 'God is a woman' by Ariana Grande, he sings it very poorly. He pulls up into his driveway. Why couldn't he have dropped me off next door, damn boy making me exercise.
"Are you free tomorrow?" He asks
"Yeah why?"
"I need help, help to build some furniture. At like 5pm" he stutters and was obviously trying to figure out what to say.
"What kind of furniture?" I may aswell play along with it.
"Flat pack ikea stuff, really difficult, definitely need a hand" he says normally.
"I'll see you at 5pm then" I say and get out of the car and walk around to my house.
I make my way inside but then I head into the back garden and sit on the swing while it continues to rain.
An hour later, I go back inside and make my way to my room to shower and then I crawl in my safe haven (my bed) and I sleep.
