Jace's POV:
I rush over to her.
I feel something I have never felt before, a rush of positive but anxious emotions run through my body all at once as I see her.
Happiness. Love. Worry. Anger. Sadness. Pride. Hatred. She's in a cell.
Locked up like some sort of animal.
She reaches out of the bars and grips onto me, she starts to ball her eyes out crying
"Please, get the keys. Please" she begs inbetween sobs.
I try my hardest to comfort her but it's difficult to do so through the cell bars. I just want to hold her and never let her go. I want to keep her safe forever.
Somehow she still looks just as perfect as the first time I set my eyes on her. She never fails to blow me away.
"Hey, calm down, it's okay, we've got you now. You're safe" I say stroking the tears away that continue to fall from her reddened exhausted eyes. While this is happening Theo is frantically searching the area for the keys but to no avail.
Where the fuck do they keep the bloody keys?!
I begin to help with the search, we tear through documents and folders and desks. Rummaging through everything we see. Trying to find hidden places in the walls or floors. The men don't have a set of keys on them either.
I get so frustrated that I give up the search and just begin to attack the bars, trying my hardest to break them, using all my strength to just try to set her free.I just need here free.
I begin to shout incoherent words in anger.
Anger at myself for not being able to set her free.
Theo still vigorously searches. Then I smell something weird.
Like, really weird.
I cannot put a finger to what it smells like because I have never smelt anything like it before.
I shrug it off and blame it on the building. It's old. Everything smells.
I try breaking the lock on the cell door.
Kicking, shoving, punching and trying to shoot at it.I can't shake this smell though.
It's lingering.
I turn to Theo.
Expecting him to know of this smell.
He's staring at something.
Something high up.
That's strange.
I follow his vision path and then I see it.
A vent.
A vent which is expelling a light purple smoke that begins to fill the room. I pull my shirt up over my mouth to try to help ventilate the air a little bit.Suddenly, Theo collapses and I rush to his side.
"C'mon, you're fine, get up. We need to get Kady out" I say as my vision begins to blur.
I try to shake my head to see if that makes my vision return back to normal but it doesn't. I'm still trying to help Theo when I look over at Kady who is passed out on the floor in a heap.
My vision only just gets worse and now I cannot breathe.
