"Hoseok!"
This was a dumb idea and Amy knew that, but after the commotion and with the male disappearing seconds later, she felt the absolute need to find him. She couldn't help but feel some what scared despite knowing that this is a usual occurrence.
What if he's hurt?
Kidnapped?
Or even de-
That's ridiculous Amy!
It was, and she knew it. The male had been in this company for 4 years now. He had seen things and done things. He had been hurt, tortured and beaten close to death. It was the norm in this business.
So why did she have such a bad feeling about this?
"J-Hope!" she tried again, cupping her hands around her mouth to amplify her voice. She looked around for any signs of Hoseok around the heart of chaos, trying to spot him through the organized confusion of scrambled people, some allies, some foes, some dead, but finding no sign of him. And as she watched body after body collide with the ground like swatted flies, her heart couldn't help but come to a halt as she imagined Hoseok being one of those bodies, lying lifelessly. She couldn't help but think of how it would feel to see him in a dull black coffin, being lowered into internal rest. She found it incredulous, knowing that he could just die like that.....
Without a goodbye.
Without a smile.
Without knowing how she felt about him.
Without knowing how she stayed up all night, thinking about how he laughed at her jokes, ruffled her hair and whispered a greeting in her ears every time they met.
He wouldn't know.
And this terrified her the most. Knowing that she would have to live without his sunny energy and strength.
Knowing that he would never be by her side again.
She closed her eyes, unable to look at death which stood right in front of her. Unable to look at the flames which ate away at the building and many unfortunate souls. She tried to block the sound of gun shots and ear-piercing screams ringing in her head. She tried to block smell of smoke and burning flesh which suffocating the air.
She was afraid.
Her usual, brave psyche, stripped off its colors, leaving behind an ugly shell of trepidation as she stood, frozen. Immobile. Useless-
"Amy!"
She flung her eyes open in shock before meeting familiar, warm ones.
Ha-eun.
An army who had also been her best friend for 10 years now, came running towards her, clothing stained in blood and hair swishing around like a horse's tail.
"What the hell are you doing standing there with your eyes closed?!" she could hear her shout, voice breaking to allow some pants to escape as she continued to sprint towards her paralyzed friend. "Are you just asking for death to come find you?!"
"No Haeun."
"Then what the hell were you doing?!" the shorter female finally reached Amy, panting heavily but ignoring it as she dragged the still frozen female behind a wall. Haeun turned towards the female, looking her up and down, searching for any injuries before she turned away and huffed, and pulled her gun out. "You need to be serious Amelia. You can't be foolish on the battle field. That's not why we work here."
