Warning: Feels ahead.

He was only two years old when you were born. His mom brought him with her to the hospital to see your mom and you. He was very excited to meet next-door-neighbor Mrs. (L/N)'s new baby. Though he could barely talk, he didn't stop going on about how he wanted to be best friends with you someday. How he was going to play knights and dragons with you and how he'd share his Mac and cheese.

He was very happy to finally see you. As soon as he and Donna entered the room your mom was in, his entire face lit up and he shouted "baby!" And rushed to see you. Your mom chuckled at his excitement.

    "Gerard, this is (y/n)."

Gerard was mesmerized by the sight of a tiny human. "Hi, (y/n)! We're gonna be best friends someday!"

Once again, your mom chuckled. "I bet you will be."

~

"Race ya back home, gee!" Four year old You exclaimed, running along the sidewalk.

Four years later, Gerard's 'prophecy' of sorts had come true, and you were best friends. From the moment you were brought home, he wanted to be by you at all times. He'd get sad when he had to leave you to go back home, and would complain to his mom about how he wanted to look after you. Whenever your mom said you had to take a nap, he'd nap with you. Whenever you cried, he tried to cheer you up. It got to the point where you recognized his face better than your moms.

"Not fair!" He called after you as he ran after you in a frenzy. He easily caught up to you, though. His legs were longer than yours, making him much faster than you. He knew that if he won the race that you'd be sad about it, so he purposely slowed himself down.

"I win!" You leaped up and down throwing your hands up. Gerard laughed breathlessly.

"Yeah you did." He ruffled your hair with a proud smile. "You always do."

You smiled up at him through the hair that was now in your face, but then frowned. "Gee, now that I'm home I won't be able to see you till' tomorrow." Your mom always told you to come in for dinner when you got home, then after that it was a bath then straight to bed. "I always miss you."

He gave you a sad smile. "Yeah, but just think, tomorrow isn't that far away. We'll be together again before you know it." He pulled you into a tight hug, that you returned. Your mom called you you and you only hugged Gee tighter. "Don't worry, (y/n). No matter what, I'll always come back to you."

As Gerard entered his house for dinner with his own family, Donna approached him and placed a hand on his shoulder with a gleeful smile. "So how's (y/n)?"

Gerard grinned back up at her. "Really good! Today we played pirates, I was captain Red Beard, and she was my first mate!"

"It sounds like you two had a lot of fun today!"

"We did! (Y/N) is really great. I'm gonna marry her someday." Gerard stated.

Donnas eyes went wide, and she laughed at her sons determination. "Sure, honey."

~

"Do you have to go, (y/n)?" Gerard gazed at you with pleading eyes.

You were about to leave to move to Chicago. You were furious at your parents for forcing you to leave Gerard, who was pretty much the second half of your brain. You'd never told him, but ever since the night he told you he had a crush on you back when you were five, you'd fallen for him. You're fifteen now, and you remember that night like it was yesterday.

Tears welled up in your eyes as you responded to him. "Yeah, Gee." It came out as a whisper. "I'm sorry. I hate my parents for making me leave you."

He took a step forward and took your small hand in his rather large one. He'd gotten bigger over the years weight wise, but you didn't care. He was still your best friend/crush and you loved him to death. "We'll be together again someday. I promise you." He rested his forehead on yours and sadly smiled down at you.  "I love you."

You returned the sad smile and cupped his face. "I love you too." And with that, you both leaned forward and connected your lips for the first time. Well, technically not first, seeing as it is he kissed you back when you had your first day of school to try to calm you down, but this was your first meaningful kiss. Oh how you wished it would never end.

"I love you." He whispered between kisses. "So much."

   "I love you more."

   "Impossible."

   "Mph, definitely possible."

And with the loud yells of your mother telling you to get in the car, you broke away from the love of your life with tears in your eyes. "Bye, Gee."

"Bye for now, (y/n). We will see each other again. And when were adults, I'll marry you so we never have to leave each other again." He pecked your lips one last time, and you walked off to join your parents in the car, glaring daggers at both of them. As the car began to drive, a sob escaped your mouth when your eyes connected with Gerard's again. He waved sadly, as did you.

This is it. You thought. It's now or never.

You stood like a statue, seemingly calm as your sister rambled on, Flaunting over the folds of your dress. All you could think about was Gerard. He was probably going to freak out. What would he say? What would he do? Would he like your dress? More importantly, is he even still here?

Your dad leaned over to you and smiled. "He's still here. He was wondering earlier if you were."

You sighed and nodded. You were very nervous. I mean, who wouldn't be nervous at their own wedding?

Gerard's face lit up as soon as he saw you walking down the aisle. His smile was bigger than any other. He looked so happy to get to be with you for the rest of your lives. You could've sworn he wiped away a tear when he 'scratched his face'.

Your friend Patrick also grinned at the sight of you. When you moved to Chicago, you'd met him and three other awesome guys. You'd taken Patrick in specific under your wing because of how fragile he was, and he quickly became a close friend.

Everything seemed to move in super speed. Your eyes were locked with Gerard the whole time, and it was like the whole world revolved around the two of you. Before you knew it, he was grinning ear to ear as he said the words "I do."  Not minutes later you repeated the words, and before the vicar could announce anything, Gerard's arm grabbed your waist and pulled you to him, dipping you down and locking his lips with yours in a quick motion. You smiled into the kiss, as did he. Your arms snaked themselves around Gee's neck and held on to him tightly.

In that moment, you were the most happy you'd ever been. Everything was right with the world. You had married your childhood best friend, and nothing would ever separate you.

Everything was just as it should be.
