Three weeks passed, everyone was filled with this energy, energy from having fun and having others surround them, and now Tax and Quix shook snow off of themselves, the winter had taken a while to set in, which was odd and caused alot of confusion and worry from the aliens.

Tax grinned rubbing his red nose, "no more beaches, damn I'm going to miss those perfect days" chuckled Tax, he hunched into his Jacket, Goldy was off her leash and giggling at the cold snow, Echo was tossing snow around, the humans had been forced into special shoes, thick jackets and pants, they were still uncomfortable in clothing but it was warmer than not wearing it. "Hey, Goldy come" called Tax as the girl was running about, he caught her under his arm as she ran passed and gently rubbed her head with his knuckles, " hey, do you know what Christmas is?" He asked as he held the girl out, she stared at him with a smile but eyes that showed she didn't understand a thing he had just said, "well, its something you guys made up! We kept it ya know" he explained to the girl who was now peeking over his shoulder and giggling as Echo aimed and hit Tax with a perfect snowball, Tax spun his head back confused, Echo had this joyful look in his eyes, he really loved snow.

Quix had gone the shorter way home so he can prepare the Christmas decorations, Tax wanted to let the humans have more fun, they warily trusted them off their leashes, despite the odd glances from passerby's, but the walk ended and Goldy stared at the apartment and Quix who had a few boxes of decorations. Tax was quick to help and the humans *helped* by pulling stuff out and staring, a long line of solar powered lights tangled up in Echo's legs and a long mass of tinsel somehow tied up Goldy.

It was a hard time decorating the place, but it was fun, more fun than the previous years Christmas decorating was. Goldy stared wide eyed and Echo garbled nonsense as the place shone with lights and cool figures. "Another amazing effort, but I have to ask, who are these two?" Questioned a voice, the boys slowly turned around to look at their leaser, "uh, miss Amandi!"  Uttered Tax, "They're... They're" struggled Quix, Echo and Goldy ignored all that and began making shapes in the snow.

Miss Amandi frowned and breathed out, the steam slowly fading, "don't lie boy" she growled, Quix flinched, "we're leaving next week... It'll be fine" muttered Tax, she looked furious, "humans! Honestly... All they do is get you in trouble" muttered Miss Amandi, Echo looked at her and cried out, he could still remember, her arm grabbing him and throwing him, tossing him straight into that truck, he whimpered then growled, now Tax heard it, the growl he had used, Echo was trying to copy it, he stared in shock, Miss Amandi looked at the human in surprise, "it couldn't be... You're that one..." She stopped and quickly looked up at the owners, Quix was quick to scold Echo who was shivering, and gathering up every word he understood Echo spoke, a broken sentence "naught eye.. Bad... Throw... Family... KODA!" Wailed Echo, Quix and Tax gaped, they didn't know humans spoke their language "no way.. You remember that.." She muttered, Echo resumed his protective growling, Miss Amandi stopped them from telling him off.

"Heh.. You caused the most trouble, it was fine, letting those others go, but since Jules upset me as he complained about 'neglect' and everything... Do you know how much trouble we got in? The police, the trials, heh.. I was the lucky one who got off with impacted by drug and alcohol use.." She growled, Echo protected his sister, a part of his mind hissed, telling him that she will destroy his family again, "what?" Muttered Quix, he was confused, and upset.

Tax eyed her, "you talking about that story eight years ago? The fortama pet tragedy" muttered Tax, the look she gave him said it all, and he let out a growl, not a long one like Echo but a shorter, angry one, Quix was confused, she flinched and avoided eye contact, "it was the drugs and alcohol" she stated, "as long as you're gone and leave no trace of humans when you leave... They can stay till you leave for you're fortama" she murmured, she turned away and walked off, Echo eyeing her movements, Goldy stood still, unsure and scared, and she didn't understand why, "you can talk!" Exclaimed Quix, and he spent the whole afternoon trying to get the tensed up human to speak again, the language was weird and hard on Echo's throat.

The morning came around and the owners shook awake their pets and rushed them to the pine tree and passed them decorated boxes, they opened them and pulled out toys and human tracking devices, and then Quix and Echo passed each other presents, Quix had turned on the radio to a  Christmas channel and Let the happy songs jingle, glad Tax and Echo were no longer on edge.

Goldy ran around with a new teddy which she cuddled and spoke to, Echo stared at his presents, a Teddy, a ball connected to a string, and tennis stuff, he held the teddy close and watched Tax smile over a brand new alien tech watch which was extremely helpful and Quix laughed as he got a funny shirt and along with it came a gift card to an alien store, Echo felt good, he had his family, but now his heart ached for Koda more than ever.
