"Have you ever wanted a human who could become any other pet?" Read Quix aloud, Tax watched as Quix read a box, they had bought some stuff from a store and this strange box had caught their attention, "anyone who's paid attention to the news knows that the blood gems are created from a lunatic who took it upon themselves to experiment with humans and blood from anything he could find, and this is the final product, now, no humans need to be harmed, this is a kind solution to what can only described as an amazing discovery!" Quix read aloud with fake enthusiasm, Tax cringed at that.

Everyone had heard the story, a man kidnapped humans from their own homes and experimented with them, he would inject them with alien plant material, his own blood and so much more, lots of humans died to him, and once he was found he was the biggest thing talked about throughout the galaxies, he was executed for his crimes.

"It contains vampire blood, werewolf blood, some oddly worded plant material and some oddly worded alien's blood oh and one contains dog blood, another cat blood, hamster blood and pony blood" read Quix, Tax nodded slowly, he didn't like this anymore but they were still curious, so they opened it, inside were four collars with gems along them, each one had words engraved into the leather, they placed the one that read "curse of the dog" onto Echo, it was baffling to watch as Echo seemed to vanish, and in his place sat a dog, its tail wagged softly.

Goldy was confused and unhappy, while Rebel was just in shock by the strange change, the collar was still on Echo's neck, he watched his owners, his vision had slightly shifted and he felt weird, he hated it, he began whining and barking, carefully Quix removed the collar and there stood Echo, watching them in bafflement as everything returned to normal, "how does that even work" gasped Tax, "can't you turn into a wolf?" Enquired Quix, more for trying to understand the odd changes, "sure I can! I haven't since I was like ten but this, now this is just impossible, humans shouldn't be able to do this like magic" stated Tax.

They looked at the collars some more and experimentively placed the 'curse of the hamster' on Rebel, he vanished and in turn stood a tiny hamster wearing a tiny collar, Rebel was woozy from the shift and Tax removed the collar, Rebel watched them irritably as his head was spinning, they stuffed the collars in the box, "warning, to much exposure to the curse can lead to premature death or disfiguration" read Tax, they closed the box and hid it away.

They hadn't paid much mind to their surroundings, they sat in a well lit room with comfy couches, a carpet was perfectly placed over the wooden floor and a fire crackled in a fireplace, it was rather peaceful but by the expressions on the humans faces they were everything but peaceful.

Quix was quick to hug them all and quickly unpacked the rest of the stuff they had bought, everything fit well in baskets that belonged to the motel, they grabbed a colourful ball which lit up every time it was hit, Goldy grabbed the toy and examined it, she hit it on the floor and giggled as it lit up, she was quick to forget what had just happened, they passed Echo a new puzzle toy, it was a cube which opened up and took the shape of a ship, Echo quickly got to work on it, the final present was a tennis ball and racket, Rebel played with them curiously, he may not have understood the game but he knew it was fun.

"There's only like three months left" muttered Quix, Tax nodded sadly, "do you know what you want to be?" Asked Quix softly, Tax gave a smile, "I wanna work with horses, be a carriage driver" said Tax, Quix squinted at him, "alright, and you know what I want so, well I'm just glad this has all happened" stated Quix, he handed Tax a present, it was a hat, with the words 'proud human parent' he chuckled happily, "awesome! I got ya something as well, that store had everything" chuckled Tax, he quietened his voice as Goldy groaned in her sleep, she was wrapped in the covers right beside Tax, he reached for the basket and pulled out some gloves that reached Quix's elbows, they were made of strong material.

"What are these for?" Asked Quix, "for when you're a rescue house owner, no more nails and teeth threatening you" chuckled Tax, Quix smiled at him, "thanks bud" he said, gently patted Echo's head who lay snuggled beside him, Rebel was on his other side, "I'm really cramped" muttered Quix, Tax grinned at his friend, "aw but now you can't sneak any midnight snacks" chuckled Tax, he hated the thought of waking Goldy, but he couldn't help pointing that out, Quix grumbled about that only being a one off thing.

The morning was peaceful, birds called and animals talked, Goldy was already up and going through the human doggy door so she could see the birds, the sun hit the horizon, the ocean reflected it better then any movie could ever show, Echo snuck after his sister, they watched the birds fly around the colourful sky, Rebel was next out, he joined them, bringing his arm controlled toy, they sat and enjoyed themselves, even as pets they knew when to sit and enjoy the world around them.

I've been waiting for this chapter for so long! I really wanted to outline the curses so that the reader wouldn't be completely left in the dark during book five, don't worry, they won't really be brought up much and our characters won't use them in this book, its mainly just a highlight for book five.
