Tax opened a parcel, it contained a horse pendant, he looked at the packaging confused before looking at the letter.

'Merry Christmas bud!

Everybody here is enjoying themselves and now Shayla is officially mine!

How's Echo and Goldy enjoying their Christmas?'

Tax froze, he felt happy for his friend, he knew how rare it was for a rescuer in training to get to keep a human in their first year, but the word Christmas kept buzzing in his head.

He hadn't even realised that it was Christmas.

He ran into the house and Fell looked at him in surprise, Tax wasn't normally the 'rush in and look crazy' type, she was playing with Goldie's hair and Echo slept peacefully beside her, "what's wrong?" She asked, "its Christmas!" He huffed.

"Christmas?" She said slowly, she gave him a mocking grin, "I certainly didn't realise it was but... What's with the reaction?" She asked, he sighed, "I'm sorry, it's just that I've never missed a Christmas" chuckled Tax, he was embarrassed by his behaviour and felt his face blushing, "ah, I see, well, let's try and make this a great Christmas day then, hmmm how about a trip into town hey?" She offered, Tax gave her a happy smile, "that sounds good" he stated, "but first, let's make sure the horses are good to be left alone" she added, and Tax headed out, being sure not to rush and not to startle the horses.

Fell waited outside the gates as Tax walked a sluggish and sleepy Echo towards her, Goldy was rushing ahead, holding her leash happily.

They headed into the old western designed town, there were Christmas decorations and Christmas events going on, "how did we not notice" mumbled Tax, Fell laughed good naturedly, "simple, you and I have been so busy and caught up in our work that we just forgot that the outside world exists" she explained, Tax nodded, Goldy was already trying to rush off to some children's area, with face painting and sweets as well as a protected trampoline, Fell followed Goldy closely.

Echo at this point was more interested in the quieter areas, he was getting older and even though he's not old, he's only 14 afterall, he has been getting to that age that humans stay awake longer during the night and wake up later in the morning.

Echo sat atop a haybale as it took both Fell and Tax to control the excited girl, Goldy was happily causing trouble, examining paint, interrupting conversations to look at peoples faces, she even managed to take several balloons and all that could be seen of her were 5 different coloured balloons floating above her by strings, Echo laughed at his sisters carefree behaviour and decided he wanted join in finally.

With a call Echo managed to get Goldy to come to him and he grabbed her hand and led her towards the animals, there were horse rides, these were the kind that didn't involve cruelty as humans once did, Goldy was all to excited to be lifted upon a ponies back, Echo joined her, just to make sure she didn't slip off, or cause chaos, Tax watched in half worry and half delight, the ride began and Goldy loved it, the swaying of the pony, the colourful decorations and happy locals, who may be small in number, but know how to throw a celebration.

That night Tax arrives home with Fell, Echo was walking behind them, and Goldy was sound asleep in Tax's arms, Fell reached into the mailbox, as mail is delivered very quickly due to technology advances, it was another letter from Quix, "he wrote, 'sorry, I had to write this, I couldn't wait, anyway, so I failed at Christmas, because I forgot it was for the humans and not impressing my trainer... Ah anyway, merry Christmas again, and I can't wait to see you again'" Fell read aloud, Tax snickered softly, "he's a good kid that Quix" stated Fell, Tax nodded in agreement, "he sure is" he agreed.
