The addiction of blood and beaches

I apologise for my period of writers block, it seems I know what I want to write but how I'm going to do it is a real road block.

On Tuesday the groups met up, Tax and Quix watched Shana suspiciously, she looked confused at the suspicious glances, the humans stood waiting, Echo glancing at his owners while trying to act upset, Goldy waited excitedly.

Jay and Trap happily followed Quix as he walked them to Shana who nodded her thanks, Goldy hugged Quix's legs happily and Echo feigned annoyance as he followed Quix back to Tax. They stood in the park which was relatively empty, it was Quiet except for the sounds of Goldie's excited words in her language and Shana muttering loving words to her own two,

Mika and Geo arrived a few minutes later, Geo looking happy and well rested while Mika had a proud look in her eyes as she walked the two human girls who Followed obediently but got excited as they saw Geo. They traded their humans back and Mika grinned "see a little tough love works" she said, Geo nodded, waiting for his girls to start getting up to mischief and chattering together but they just hugged him and behaved.

They stood in silence till Shana cracked "what is it?" She asked, Tax and Quix glanced at each other, they didn't want to accuse her of anything, "well we were wondering... Do... Do you drink their blood?" Muttered Tax, Shana's face went red then paled, Geo gasped and Mika suddenly found her feet very interesting.

After a few more moments, Shana spoke, "please don't tell anyone... It only started because one of them hurt themselves and... And the blood tasted wonderful... I'm not like those sickos on the news! I only have a lick each I promise" she rushed, Tax and Quix gaped at her, Jay and Trap noticing the mood change hugged her and patted her back, she sighed, "isn't that how it always starts though... And on the news when they show those poor humans Dead its so sad..." Muttered Geo, Shana's eyes widened, "I would never go that far! I know its an addiction and that its illegal but... I can't help it" claimed Shana, Tax and Quix scuffed their feet, they would trust her word for now, Geo was worried but gave in to the desperate eyes if Shana, Mika looked up and grinned, "this weekend, the beach!" She exclaimed, Quix grinned and nodded.

After everyone had left to do their daily tasks and all the humans went home. The week went quickly for the excited owners.

Finally beach day came, a warm Saturday with a blue sky and the air filled with the sound of insects, Echo was gazing around and enjoying the sand in between his toes, Goldy was already covered in sand, Quix sighed, "hope you can swim" Quix teased Goldie, knowing she didn't understand but he didn't care, Jay and Trap ran to the water and began swimming, Harley and Delta quickly followed, Echo approached the water hesitantly, he shivered as the cold water touched his feet, Goldy squealed in excitement as the water went up and swirled around her feet, "you sure we can let them off the leads?" Asked Tax, Mika nodded, "let them have some fun," she said, Geo was busy trying to convince his girls the water wasn't dangerous, as the girls stared at the giant blue expanse and warily avoided the water as it went up to their feet.

Soon Goldy was helping Quix build a sandcastle, well by helping she was running back and forth collecting shells and pebbles, there was soon no spot of sand visible on the poorly made sandcastle, but Goldy was giggling with delight at the structure and that was perfect for Quix, Tax was guiding Echo into the water and showing him how to swim, Echo kept close to Tax, Geo had finally convinced the girls to at least sit were the water was the shallowest and he joined the humans that were having swimming races over gentle waves.

Shana and Mika sat and sunbathed enjoying the peace, "hey Quix, how old are you?" Called Mika, "19" replied Quix sitting down and letting Goldy bury his leg in sand, "so next year you can celebrate your fortama!" Exclaimed Mika, "why isn't Tax at his fortama?" Asked Shana, "hmm well you can go between 20 and 25 years old so he decided to do it with me" explained Quix, Shana nodded slowly, "good friends aren't yous" she stated, Quix nodded, "so we're starting in a month! Geez, its already the end of the year" sighed Quix.

Quix watched the water and Echo who was freaking out about a patch of seaweed approaching him, Tax was laughing. Geo was losing a race with Jay and Harley and Trap were seemingly having a competition to see who can touch the ground, Delta was lazing on his back and floating, enjoying himself, "let's do this more often before we leave" stated Quix, Mika grinned, "yes! We have plenty of weekends till you leave!" Giggled Mika, she watched as Geo's girls began to play, splashing each other and laughing, everyone was relaxed, and Quix couldn't wait for his year long fortama.
