"Because, Loki, we're Americans. We see that we're wrong, but we still keep doing wrong until that wrong thing becomes right." I say, not realizing how true that statement was until it came out of my mouth.

~Loki's p.o.v.~
"Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but seldom men realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were..."
I laid in my bed next to Alex, and she read in the dark using a lantern. Reminder that we don't have electricity in Asgard.
Alex got herself comfortable under my blankets as she continued to read the first chapter. "In her face were too sharply blended the delicate features of her mother, a Coast aristocat of French descent, and the heavy ones of her florid Irish father. But it was an arresting face, pointed of chin, square of jaw. Her eyes were pale green without a touch of hazel, starred with bristly black lashes and slightly tilted at the ends."
"So her eyes are kind of like yours," I say, looking into Alex's green eyes.
Alex frowned in confusion. "Like Scarlett's?" I nod. "Loki, my eyes are brown."
"No, they're green, a beautiful emerald green," I argue.
Alex hops out of my bed, and I check her ass out as she bends a little to see her eyes more clearly in the mirror. Those pajamas should be long gone, I wanna-
"Loki, ohmigod, my eyes are green!" she exclaimed. She then put her hand to her forehead. "My whole life has been a lie."
Shit. I didn't think tampering with her memory would change her eye color. But then again, my magic is strong. Wait...
"It might have been the immortality." I say quickly.
Alex looks at me as if I've gone crazy. "Locito, (pronouced Loki toe) I'm not immortal. Last I checked, I'm very much vulnerable to the idea of death."
I make up a lie, trying to disguise the fact that I accidentally gave the Avenger immortality. "Everyone who arrives on Asgard is granted with immortality. Odin thought that would suffice, and I think it definitely suffices now."
"No, it does not suffice now." Alex argues. "Shit, I'm gonna be alive for the rest of my life?"
"I wasn't aware you wouldn't be alive for the rest of your life, mortal or not." I say sarcastically.
Alex grrs at me. "I don't need your sarcasm now, Odinson. Can't I get rid of this?"
I flinch at the word Odinson. "It's Laufeyson," I correct. "And why would you get rid of it?"
"Cause I don't either want it nor need immortality." Alex argues.
I sigh. "You'll get used to it."
She takes my sigh as a signal the conversation is over, and slides back into my bed.
"Do I have to sleep in your bed, Loki?" she whines.
"It's the only bed here, and you do have to stay with me at all times." I chuckle softly. "Plus, most girls don't mind sleeping with me."
"I'm not most girls." Alex retorts.
I smile. "I know. You look like the kind of girl who would tell me to take you out to dinner first."
"Yes," she smiles back. "But we all know I'm more the type of girl who would tell you to go to Hell."
If she had those memories back...
"I'm sure you would," I mutter softly, and rest my head on the pillow. Alex picks up the book.
....
"As they picked their way across the red furrows and down the hill to the river bottom in the deepening dusk, Brent yelled to his brother:
" 'Look, Stu! Don't it seem like to you that Scarlett would have asked us to supper?' "
" 'I kept thinking she would,' yelled Stuart. 'Why do you suppose...' "
Alex set the book down on the desk next to my bed. "End of the chapter." she explains.
I snapped a finger, and the fire from the lamp went out. "C'mon, go to sleep, darling."
Alex lays down and gets comfortable next to me, and I thank Odin for letting me have a twin sized bed instead of a king sized one like I should. This forces Alex to have at least one body part touching me.
"You know, my room is right next to yours. I would hear if someone invaded." Alex argues.
I grab her cheek, forcing her to look me straight in the eyes, emerald on emerald.
"Listen, I've never told anyone this, but the reason I have my PA sleep with me is because I have nightmares. And if I have one, you're the one who's gonna wake me up."
I drop her cheek and lay on my side, facing her. She faces me too, but she is silent. By the moonlight, all I can see is the outline of her face and her green eyes, though they look silver.
Finally Alex speaks. "I'm sorry," she says and her hand lands on my shoulder. I smile slightly.
"Stop, this isn't a chick flick. Let's go to sleep." I say.
Alex smirks. "Jerk."
"Bitch." I retort.
I slowly start to fall asleep, but right on the verge of unconsciousness, I realize Alex is curled up in my arms, sound asleep.
....
"Locito." "Crazy boy; crazy."
