"Why Scarlett cares about Ashley?" I nod.

"Because she thinks she's in love with him." Alex explains.

I raise an eyebrow, curious of how Alex worded that sentence. "But is she?"

"No, but she hasn't realized it yet. And she won't for a long while."

....

~Alex's p.o.v.~

Loki and I were already at chapter 4 of Gone With The Wind, and it was only the second day we had it. Though, to be fair, we were stuck in a throne room all day, there was really nothing else to do but read a 1037 page book (Fun fact: We're only on page 72).

I continued to read the book aloud to Loki.

"...But Scarlett was examining her heart.

She dropped her head upon her folded hands so that her mother could not see her face, and her thoughts went sadly back to Ashley. How could he be planning to marry Melanie when he really loved her, Scarlett? And when he knew how much she loved him? How could he deliberately break her heart?

Then suddenly, an idea, shining and new, flashed like a comet through her brain.

'Why, Ashley hasn't an idea I'm in love with him!'

She almost gasped aloud in the shock of its unexpectedness. Her mind stood still as if paralyzed for a long, breathless instant, and then raced forward.

'How could he know? I've always acted so prissy and ladylike and touch-me-not around him that he probably thinks I don't care a thing about him except as a friend. Yes, that's why he's never spoken! He thinks his love is hopeless. And that's why he's looked so-'

Her mind went swiftly back to those times when she had caught him looking at her in that strange manner, when the gray eyes that were such perfect curtains for his thoughts had been wide and naked and had in them a look of torment and despair.

'He's been broken hearted because he thinks I'm in love with Brent or Stuart or Cade. And he probably thinks that if he can't have me, he might as well please his family and marry Melanie. But if he knew I did love him-' "

"Is she seriously going to do that?" Loki asked, almost annoyed by Scarlett.

"She's only 16. She doesn't know better." I say, excusing Scarlett, because I've felt and probably will feel again the same stuff she feels.

Loki isn't so kind. "She's an idiot. She sees him about to get married, why would she try to break it up?"

"She's going through puppy love, Loki."

"I'm 17 and I know not to screw with people's weddings."

"I'm 16 and I can definitely say if I thought I truly loved somebody and they were about to get married, I'd stop them."

Loki raised an eyebrow at me and said nothing, shifting a bit in his throne.

I turned back to the book, but then quickly looked up. "Wait, how in the hell are you 17?"

....

I laid down in Loki's bed, looking up at him.

The king was sitting up in his chair, reading Gone With The Wind, unaware of me awakening. His armor was off and Gungnir was resting against the wall. All he was wearing was a white shirt and black pants.

I looked closely at Loki. He honestly was one of the most beautiful men I've seen on Asgard. But then again, I've only seen the guards, Thor, Loki and Odin. I should really get out more...

He sighed and I closed my eyes quickly. "I can tell your awake, Alex."

I smile, eyes still closed, trying to pretend I'm asleep.

I hear Loki get up, walk towards the bed, set my book down on the desk and then I can't hear anything else. I open my eyes for one second, about to turn my head, before Loki jumps on me.

I scream. "LOKI LAUFEYSON, DO YOU THINK YOU'RE SKINNY?" I yell and Loki laughs as he crushes me beneath him, pinning me down, his stomach to my back.

"No, but I sure as hell ain't fat," he jokes, lips to my neck. I silently thank God that I have a ponytail up so he can touch my neck.

"Uh, whatever is on me sure doesn't feel like it's not fat." I chuckle.

Loki smiles against my neck. I tense up at the feeling, especially with his lips so close to my spot.

"Oh, you silly mortal, you tense up at the most silliest moments." he chuckles, his laughter vibrating both of us.

"I kinda have to tense up. I'm kind of an assassin.." I trail off as I notice Loki's hands traveling up my sides.

Oh God help me. Ohmigod. Ohmigod. Ohmifuckingod. Loki is touching me.

"Um, Loki." I say quickly. He stops moving his hands and I flip over. Though it is an awkward flip, seeing as Loki didn't move his arms, keeping me caged under him. I had kind of hoped he would let me go...

"What, darling?" Loki said softly. He looked down at me and our noses touched. Green eyes met green eyes, but the looks were different. In Loki's eyes, I could see absolutely nothing, almost as if he was hiding his emotions. However, from the reflection from Loki's eyes, I could see my eyes were full of nervousness.

"Um..." I said softly, almost whispering it.

Loki smiled and brought his lips to mine.
