The Fight

Bloodshadow and I soared out of the smoke, blinded and breathing heavily. I looked around and saw Hiccup and Toothless hovering, wiping their eyes. Toothless rubbed his face with a paw and grumbled at Hiccup.

"Water." I gasped. "They don't like water."

Hiccup nodded and pointed downwards. Astrid and Stormfly were winging it upwards. Once they arrived, Astrid handed me and Hiccup each a damp cloth and covered her nose and mouth with it.

"This should help with breathing."

"What about our eyes?" I asked. "That smoke will blind you."

"Umm.." Hiccup mumbled, pointing into the smoke. "Look."

I squinted through the smoke to see Luna charging through the smoke on Coral, seemingly unfazed by the smoke surrounding her.

The dragon whipped around, it's tail slicing at Luna's face. I saw a thin line of blood on her cheek.

"Aw, f***, I can't believe you've done this." Luna yelled in a strange accent. The second word was unfamiliar to me, but she turned and Coral let out a screech.

Three more Seaslicers shot out from the ocean.

"Of course!" I cried.

"Of course what?" Astrid asked.

"Seaslicers are pack dragons. I was too distracted with the whole, Smokestriker attacking that I didn't stop to think about that. Smokestrikers are bigger and stronger, but the Seaslicers work together to fight."

Hiccup nodded in understanding as the trio of new dragons decended onto the Smokestriker.

The Smokestriker was worn down by the pack of four dragons attacking it. It began to retreat and fly away. The Seaslicers stopped and watched it fly away. Then it turned towards us and, almost in slow motion, I watched it expertly whip it's tail and slice across Hiccup's chest.

Toothless shot a blast at the dragon and it fell breifly, before catching itself and flying off. Hiccup clutched his chest and his fingers quickly became slick with blood. He looked up at me and Astrid before Toothless flew down to the safety of the island.

"Hiccup!" Astrid screamed, as if she had just registered what had happened. She was shaking and even from where I was at, I could see her blue eyes glistening.

I urged Bloodshadow downwards towards where Toothless had flown with Hiccup. I jumped off of Bloodshadow too early and tumbled in the sand, twisting my ankle, but I had to help Hiccup. I found my footing and raced to Hiccup, who was already stumbling off of Toothless, holding his wound. I ripped a piece of my tunic and as I reached Hiccup, I handed it to him.

"Apply pressure to the wound." I told him.

"It's not as bad as it looks." He mumbled, stumbling. I led him to the dome, where Fishlegs stared in horror at Hiccup's injured state. I laid him down on the same table Luna was on when she was injured, which had been brought here until the healing hut was finished being built.

"I need a dagger." I said to Fishlegs.

"A what?!" His voice cracked.

"To get his leather armor off." I said to Fishlegs.

Hiccup snickered, but it turned into a nasty fit of coughing.

I gently rolled him onto his side, desperately hoping he wouldn't cough blood. As the coughs subsided, I was grateful to see no red droplets. As Fishlegs handed me a knife, I began to cut off the clothing on his torso.

"Fishlegs, I need you to boil water, then make sure it's not hot enough to burn, just to make sure the water is safe." Fishlegs hurried off and I pressed bits of cloth to his wound.

"Really, I'm fine." Hiccup tried to persuade me before suppressing a groan of pain and I applied more pressure.

"Not very convincing." I said. I hoped he would stop bleeding soon.

Behind me, Fishlegs brought in a bucket of steaming water. I waited and noticed that it seemed like Hiccup wasn't bleeding any more.

I removed the cloths and looked at the wound. It was bright and ugly, but it wasn't as deep as I had feared.

"It's ok." I told Hiccup. "It's not that deep."

"Good." He nodded, setting his jaw. I could tell, no matter how much he tried to hide it, that he was in pain.

I tested the water, to see if it was cool. It was still warm.

"I need to clean the wound." I told Hiccup.

He nodded, his chest heaved and he closed his eyes. I poured a bit of the warm water onto his wound and he gasped in pain.

"Sorry!" I cried.

"Helheim, that hurt." Hiccup mumbled.

"Yeah, well, that's what happens when you get a cut across your chest." I noted. "How did you guys even survive without a healer here?"

Hiccup managed a grin as I heard Astrid walk in behind me.

"How is he?" She asked, her voice thick with worry.

"I'm fine." Hiccup said before I had a chance to answer.

Astrid walked over and took Hiccup's hand and clasped it in hers. "Don't you dare die." She told him. "I can't imagine a world without you in it."

Hiccup squeezed her hand back. "Don't worry. You won't have to."

So sorry I haven't updated in forever, but I didn't know how to continue. Thank you StarwingxMorningleaf for helping me and convincing me to continue this. Without her, I probably wouldn't have written this. To make up for my long absence, I tried to add a little of Hiccstrid at the end.
Again, so sorry about not writing.
