Ep.6

"Ma, can i talk to you?"

"Of course." She smiles and follows me into the kitchen.

Her and Joshua are going to watch Eon again while we are at court and we are dropping her off right now. Its a school day, but she has a slight fever and Ma insisted that she take a sick day.

I tell her about my bad dream where i lost the baby and she comforts me.

She holds me for about five minutes before she will let me go.

"Did you tell him yet?" She asks.

I shake my head, "I want to tell him in a creative way."

"Well what did you have in mind?" She asks seeming very curious.

"Nani," Seok walks in, "Are you ready?"

I smile and nod.

"We will talk about this later." Ma says hugging me.

"Okay." I smile.

"Today shouldn't take too long, eomma. We should be back in no more than five hours." Seok smiles and heads to the living room to day bye to Eon.

I grab my jacket and my purse. I start to walk out of the kitchen when i stop by a mirror.

I eye it carefully.

I set my stuff down on the floor and i turn sideways.

My blue long sleeve turtle neck is tighter on my then it should be. And my plain black pants are a bit tight at the top.

My belly is growing.

Its still small, but there is a bump.

"Nani?"

I jump at the sound of Seoks voice.

"Coming!" I say grabbing my stuff again. I smile wide when i notice Ma staring at me happily.

"Bye, Ma." I say heading out.

"Goodbye, dear! Drive safe!"

"Miss. Lee," Han walks around the room, "Why did you decide to walk up to this man at the restaurant?"

"Well," i start, "He was harassing a young waitress. She told him to stop, and it didn't seem that anyone else was going to stand up for her. So i did. It's not right to just stand on the sideline."

"I see. So did you immediately start attacking him at first?"

"No not at all. I just tried to get her away from them, then he brought my family into it, and threatened us. I admit i got a little angry, but if i didn't do something my daughter might have possibly been hurt!"

The jury still seems to be a bit cautious of me, though Han seems proud.

"And your daughter, she is actually your sister right?"

"Objection!" The prosecutor
stands up, "Irrelevance."

The judge eyes my curiously, "Overruled."

He is curious about the situation.

"Well, my mother died when we were both little. An-and my dad passes recently in an accident that almost took her too. My and my boyfriend were left as her legal guardians and we adopted her."

"And lets talk about your education. You are still in school right?" I know what he wants to hear from me.

"Yes, i am set to graduate next month in the top 10 of my class." I say it full of pride.

The jury seems highly impressed.

"So you are a full time mother, student, and you still find time to fight for what's right in court today?"

It's more of a statement then a question, but i know i need to say something.

"Yes, but Seok's parents help a lot when we have court on the weekends. They take Eon, Cagh and Bach without complaint. Couldn't ask for a better family."

"Bach and Cagh?"

"Bach is a flame, Eons elemental, Cagh is one of mine and Seok's mysticals."

Whispers start all over the room and the prosecutor doesn't look happy.

"Ah." He nods.

I can tell that he is as surprised as i am that the question wasn't objected to.

"It had come to my attention that we have run out of time for today. We will resume next week on Wednesday at 12 am."

He says a few other things and we are let out.

"Great job Nani." Hans shakes my hand.

"Thanks?" I laugh nervously. I can't lose, if i do, then what'll happen to the baby?

"Nani?" Seok looks at me. He can tell that i am more anxious then i should be.

"Im ok." I lie.

He pulls me up into a tight embrace.

I am thankful that i have my long tan jacket on so that no one can have a chance to see my little baby belly.

"Lets go home." He smiles.

I nod and follow him outside through the crowd of photographers and news people.

"I found this at the store and i thought it was cute!" Ma hands me a small bag.

"You guys went shopping?" I laugh.

"No, i just had to go out to get a few things for dinner and i saw it and thought of you!"

She looks back and forward between me and the bag.

I laugh and i open it.

It is a dark navy blue coffee cup.

"Good morning handsome," I read and laugh, "You thought of me? How sweet."

"Now look inside it!" Ma says laughing.

I tip the cup and on the bottom of the cup their is a message.

"You're going to be a daddy!" Is written on the bottom.

I smile wide, "I love it!"

"Are you sure? You don't have to use it, i just thought it was very creative."

I want to laugh, she must have been looking for something like this, but that only makes it more special.

"I would love to give this to him." I smile so wide i can barely see.

"You can give it to him with coffee or something in it, so when he is done he could have a little surprise!"

I nod.

How perfect!

"I can't wait to tell him."

"I also got one," she grabs another bag from the cupboard, "But its for Joshua!"

She hands me another dark navy blue mug.

It has the same writing on the outside, saying "Good morning handsome," but inside it says grandpa instead of daddy.

My heart races still. This is possibly the cutest thing i've ever seen.

"Now, you can't give that to Joshua until after i tell Seok, because I want to be here with Seok for his reaction."

"Of course, dear!" Ma puts the cup back in its bag and on the shelf.

"When do you plan on telling Seok?"

"Maybe breakfast tomorrow," I say happy again. "I'll call you right after."

"You better!" We both laugh and hug each other.
