Untamable

Ep. 19

I sit in the hospital bed still. I send fiery sparks around and over my arm, by now the word got out about me and Seok in the hospital.

News reporters line up outside the hospital room getting ready to get and interview with me, people from school were either coming to bring me gifts or shaming me online for being pregnant at 18 and unmarried still.

Thank god I get to go home soon though, well, as soon as Seok wakes up.

I don't know when he will wake up, but I feel it'll be soon.

I get up and walk around the stomach.

I have so much energy from laying in bed for so long.

The baby moves slightly my still small stomach.

He's hungry.

"What do we want now?" I sigh.

I decide to walk to the cafeteria and see what they have.

Nurses I pass in the hall try to get me to go back to my room, but I refuse, "We're hungry." I pout and rub my belly.

They can't deny a pregnant lady some nutrients.

The cafeteria isn't too far, just a few rooms down, an elevator and another few rooms down.

It takes me maybe 5 minutes to get there. When I get there I look around at the food.

The options don't sound too good to me right now.

Rice.

kimchi.

Bulgogi.

Bibimbap.

Japchae.

I end up settling with rice and bulgogi.

I don't have money on me so I tell them to add it to the hospital bill

I take my food back to my room and eat.

I sit in the chair next to Seok and talk to him.

"Hey handsome, how are you feeling?" I know he won't answer but I stop for a few seconds as though he will.

"I hear you," I laugh, "I'm still soar, I can't imagine how you-"

I sigh and take another bite.

"Well Eon is good, she got straight A's this last quarter. She is in the top 20 of her class." I look at him, him chest rising and falling in a steady pattern.

"Cagh is okay, she got some bruises, but she was up before me." I shrug. "Ma and Pa are both worried, about you, but I know you're alright. You're strong." I take another bite.

"Eon still has no clue," I fight tears, "There hasn't been a sigh of Kenny since that day."

I look at Seok and still his chest rises and falls in the same pattern as before, his heart still beating strong and healthy.

I set my plate on the small table next to his bed.

I take off my hospital slippers and I climb into bed with him, slipping my head under his arm and throwing my arm across his chest.

I miss him, yet he is right here.

I want him to wake up, and just talk, and look around, and kiss me, and hold me.

A tear makes its way out of my eye as I get underneath the blanket. I lay my head on his chest so that I can hear his heart beat closer.

I fall asleep.

I wake up to the sound of an annoyed man, though I keep my eyes closed, I'm still tired.

"Nani!" I hear Joshua.

I ignore him and turn over. I notice that Seok isn't in this bed, they must have moved me back.

"Nani wake up!" He laughs.

"No." I groan and pull the blanket over me.

I sit for another minute and I notice something different....

His heart beat is gone!

The beeping of a machine that once brought me joy is gone!

Why is it gone?!

I jump up and look to the side of me where his bed should be, but all I see is the window. I turn the other way and see my bed.

So they didn't move me?

I look up at Joshua who sits in the corner laughing.

Before I can open my mouth to say something a tall handsome man walks in dressed in baggy, grey sweats and a plain navy blue shirt.

My tall handsome man!

After a second I jump up and run to him.

He catches me in a warm embrace and hold me tight.

My heart soars as he kisses me for what feels like the very first time.

"Seok!" I say through tears.

"Nani!" He doesn't let go of me.
