"Miss. Lee."

Anxiety falls over me as the prosecution stands up and makes his way towards me.

I put on a small smile, but i can see that the audience knows I'm nervous. They seem to awe over me.

"You were attacked in an alley way, correct?"

"Yes." I stutter out.

"And you say it was late at night?"

"Objection your honor," Han stands up, "Irrelevance."

"I'm simply lying the foundation your honor."

"Overruled." The judge sighs.

"Yes."

"And you went out on your own?"

I only nod this time.

"Your boyfriend, " He points directly at Seok, "Let you go out all by yourself, at night time, in a town that you like to say, 'doesn't like' you, while you are pregnant?"

"We didn't think anything like this would-"

"Yes or no answers only, please." He near yells at me.

I can feel Seoks anger growing and i can't help think how hard it is for him to hold back.

I look down and nod again as my hands trace patterns over my belly.

"Your honor!" Han stands up, "The prosecution is making a pointless argument that has nothing to do with this trial!"

More whispers take over the room as the judge thinks.

"Sustained."

And with that i see some tension leave Han's and Seok's shoulders.

A wave of regret falls over me and i look up to see tears gathering in Seok's eyes; he blames himself.

"Miss. Lee. You and your sisters are orphans correct?"

"Yes, but i am her legal guardian. She even calls me oma sometimes." Im surprised he let me finish my sentence.

"Your mother died three years ago and your father passed not even one year ago correct?"

"Yes." My voice cracks, confused what this has to do with the case.

"And you say that your sister looks at you and your boyfriend as parents? And even call you oma and apa?"

"Yes."

"So you and your sister moved on quite fast after your parents deaths."

"No." I snarl, offended.

"Oh? But you say that she was calling your boyfriend- Kim Seokyeon apa not even half a year after her real father passed away."

"She's eight. The idea of losing a parent is too much for her to grasp right now," my eyes water, "She just needs to know that no matter what she has a strong family behind her."

"So," he kinda of smirks, "When you are thrown in jail and her only parent is Seok, do you think it would be proper for her to request Seok to get a new girlfriend and make her her new mom?"

"Objection!"

I look away from the prosecution, highly offended.

"He has no point!" Han screeches, obviously enraged.

"Miss. Lee. Do you regret harming this man?" He points at the man from the diner.

"If i hadn't, lord knows what he would've done to that poor waitress." Was all i could spit out.

The prosecutor sighs, not pleased with the answer.

"Yes or no, please."

"The answer is far more complicated than that. Yes i regret that it had to come down to that because drunks don't know their limit. No because what would i be teaching my daughter, standing by watching a young lady- younger than me be harassed in public?"

At this point my eyes are leaking tears and i have to grab a tissue.

Between the anger and the reminder of my parents death, i don't know how long I'll last on this stand.

"You talk about drunks as if you've encountered a few in your life time-"

"Objections!"

"I take back my question your honor."

"Miss. Lee," he starts again, "Back to your family-"

"Your honor! If the prosecution doesn't have anything relevant tp the case then i would like to request that he end the cross examination."

I look at Han great fully.

"I'll move on your honor," he clears his throat, "Miss. Lee, you say hat you thought your family was in danger that day at the diner?"

I only nod, fiddling with my hands over my belly.

"But, my client did not threaten them directly, correct?"

"He didn't have to. I know how drunks get and i couldn't risk-"

"Yes or no?"

He yells louder than ever in my face.

I can see Seok stand up in the corner of my eye and Han pull him to sit back down.

I try to calm him by calming myself, although it is hard.

I look away, refusing to answer.

"Your honor the defendant refuses to answer my question."

"Miss. Nani, can you answer the question please?"

"Not directly." I let out.

The prosecutor sighs and steps back, saying those five words I've been longing to hear...

"No further questions your honor."
