Don't close your eyes

Lance's POV

We've got this.

I can do it.

Just a few more times.

Then I can rest.

Lance sits on the edge of his bed waiting for Allura to shout at them to wake up.

He can't let the team down.

Just yet.

"Paladins! Get to your lions! A group of Galra troops have  been seen and are attacking!!"

Lance sighs and picks up his jacket.

He closes his eyes and steps out of his room.

"Ready to do this?" Hunk asks him as they meet in the control room.

Lance tries a smile and everts his eyes.

"Yeah."

They get to their lions and invade the battle ships.

"There are prisoners holding in the ships! Infiltrate the ships and rescue the prisoners!" Allura states.

"Roger that." Lance replies with no enthusiasm.

"What's up with you today Lance? You tired?" Pidge asks.

"Something like that."

As they enter the ship they are bombarded by Galra soldiers.

"Cover me Lance!" A voice shouts.

It's Keith's.

"Roger!" Lance shouts and stands up from behind the wall covering them.

Keith runs and attacks the soldiers.

Lance didn't see the Galra soldier behind him.

BZZT

The eerie sound of a purple lazer shot echoes through the hall.

Keith's POV

"Lance!"

The sound of a weapon clatters to the ground.

The thump of a body drops on the dusty floor.

"What happened!?" Pidge screeches into the coms.

"It's Lance he got shot!" I cried and shoot the last of the enemy and dive towards Lance.

"We've got to get him to a pod!"

"Allura ready a pod!" I shout.

"On it!" She replies.

"Are you okay Lance?" I asked.

Not knowing where the shot fired from and where it hit.

Lance looked a mess.

His face is pale and frail.

Blood seeping into his armour and dripping from his mouth.

Drops of crimson pooling underneath his chin.

My eyes widen.

"This is bad! We really need to get Lance out of here!" I yelled.

"We are getting it ready! You need to get him back to the castle!" Allura instructs.

Without hesitation I picked him up bridal style.

He feels so light.....

and cold.....
