The days went by very quickly. I managed to keep myself busy and my mind off of what could possibly happen the day of the dance. I kept everything low key and tried to act as normal as possible. I think I did a pretty good job considering that if anything went wrong i'd probably lose the guy who I really liked for a while.
Yes. I said it okay? I LIKED XAVIER.
A lot.
Okay so the day of the dance came and my dress had arrived hours before. I went with Hailey to pick it up and once again I was amazed that the dress was so beautiful. The train of the dress was altered so that it was much shorter. The hem was slightly beyond floor length, the silver braided belt seemed to add a little something more to the silky white fabric. The dress was so pure and white that it seemed almost blue. You know? No. Okay. Never mind.
I arrived home, hung the dress up on the back of my door, took a shower and began prepping my self for the dance. I decided to add more volume to my waves and put a bunch of hairspray in it. I curled some parts but not enough to make me look like Shirley Temple. I was applying a thin line of liquid eyeliner when the phone rang. I answered it.
"Hello?" I asked into the reciever.
"Hey it's me!" Hailey said.
"Well that clears things up doesn't it?" I joked.
"Har har." She laughed sarcastically. "So how's the dress?" She asked.
I looked at the beautiful gown that was hanging on my door. I reached out and wrapped my hand in the silky fabric. "It's amazing but I haven't tried it on."
"Are you crazy? Try it on already!" She nearly made my ear go deaf.
"Fine gosh!" I put the phone down and slipped the dress off the hanger. Slipping into the gown I felt radiant. It was perfectly fitting, flattered me very much and accentuated all of my good features. The sweetheart neckline made me look taller. I glanced down at my feet but couldn't see them because the flowy fabric covered them.
"Hello?" I heard faintly and realized I had left the phone on my bed and Hailey was still on the line.
"It fits perfectly. Now if you'll excuse me I still need to finish my make up." I hung up before she could say another word.
With my hair done and prepared I took a hair tie with a pretty twisted crystal design twisting on one part. I tied my hair to the side and flat ironed my bangs. I looked in the mirror and realized Hailey's phone call had interrupted my make up process for my eyes. I applied the eyeliner evenly to both eyes, added my mascara making my lashes look longer, and very subtle hint of color to my lips.
Satisfied with what I saw in the mirror, I slipped on my white open toe pumps and walked down the stairs.
Mom was talking with Grayer and gushing about how grown up we both were. I finally reached the ground floor and the carpet on the rug ended revealing the ground floor's polished floor. Also causing my shoes to sound. My mother turned around and almost burst into tears. She held a hand over her mouth and her eyes began to water.
"Darling you look beautiful!" She cried. She walked over full of emotion, tears, an nothing less than pure joy. "My baby is so grown up. if your father could see you know he would be so proud." She hugged me tightly.
Grayer stood up and placed a hand on my mother's back to comfort her.
"Mom. Come on stop it you're gonna make me cry too." I said with a watery smile. i could feel tears starting to form at the rims and corners of my eyes. I worried my mascara would smudge but was thankful I had gone with water proof.
