The first few days in Florida were heaven on earth. The food Kinley would cook (and sometimes order) was amazing and the desserts were amazing too. On the first day there we went to the beach and tanned. I lost my white girl look and settled with a golden tone which Xavier said suited me perfectly. He also said my eyes looked turquoise but I doubted that because nothing compared to his eyes.
The third day there we went to back to the beach to cool off in the water. The temperatures were around eighty six but it was December so it was nothing like new york the temperature that I was used to.
"Hey set up the umbrella over here!" Xavier called from the beach. He was in his board shorts and showing off his tone build. I shook my head of the thought and went back to run after with Hailey, Aiden and Grayer carrying the bags, towels, cooler, and umbrella.
We put the umbrella into the sand and were able to place the towels on the sand without them blowing away.
"Race you to the beach?" Xavier poked my stomach while I tugged off my beach cover up. I fell back in surprise and felt tickled. I hit the sand with a thud.
His eyes went wide and he reached a hand out to help me up.
I stood up without him brushed my shorts off fro the sand then tossed them in my bag. i looked up at him with serious eyes and he got what I meant. Slowly he stepped back ad I stepped forward.
In a second he turned and ran off into the water leaving sand in the air as he ran. I ran after him leaving behind my cover ups and footprints in the and. It burned my feet but I didn't care. I reached the water and dove in after him. The salt water dried my eyes but I kept them open and swam after Xavier holding my breath as I went along.
He saw me swimming after him and stopped. I swam right into him hard.
I hit my head against his chest and let out a gasp in shock. My lungs quickly let out the air I had been holding in but my cry was silenced by the water.
I began to panic and kick but Xavier's hands wrapped around my waist and pulled me up to the surface again.
"You okay?" He breathed and I choked out the water.
"Yea." I nodded and choked again.
"Why don't we take a break?" He asked wiping away the water around my eyes and face. I shivered but followed him out of the water.
"Well that's the end of swimming." Xavier announced back at the umbrella.
"Why?"
"What happened?"
"I almost drowned." I said.
"Well when you put it that way you make me sound like the bad guy." He made face of innocence. I couldn't help but smile.
"sorry. I didn't mean to almost kill you." Xavier said.
"It's okay. You can make up for it by passing me that towel. I'm gonna to to the bathroom. Hailey come with me?" I wrapped the towel around me and my shivering went away. Hailey groaned and I could almost see her roll her eyes through the sunglasses. she had told me that she was working on perfecting her tan and I knew I was disrupting that. I laughed to myself.
"Was that almost drowning thing real? Or was it something else?" Hailey spoke while we were almost at the bathrooms. She lifted her sunglasses and wiggled her eyebrows. I rolled my eyes.
"yes I almost drowned. Nothing else." I said bluntly. We reached the bathroom and the smell hit me. Typical beach bathroom that smelled like pee and dirty mop. I wasn't the type of person who would go in the water because I found it really nasty. "hold my towel. I'll be back in like two seconds."
