idek

she did not belong

with the people of the day

and their deadlines

social appearances

fake words

it was only night

only as she watched the sun

bleed into the horizon

as the city lights flared to life

that she herself came alive

as if she could make up

for the time she lost

as she hid from the people

who loved the light.

the moon

was her friend

as she twisted,

turned.

as the world fell silent

and she became loud

the starlight making her smile

the cool darkness lifting her

up, over the boundaries

the fences

that were tucked away in her mind.

she had never belonged

with the people of the day

she was the one

who chose the night-

confusing and beautiful

over the harsh,

artificially bright

rays of sun
