The Fianceé

When I wake up the next morning I felt like utter shit. Nova was still asleep next to me and I didn't really want to deal with her this morning. I mean I love her to death but I had a pounding headache and sometimes she can just be to much to handle.

I quickly climb over her and head into my bathroom. After looking in the mirror I had thought for a second it was Halloween time again. My hair was sticking up everywhere and my makeup from yesterday was smeared. And to top it all off my eyes were swollen from crying last night. I groan and grab my toothbrush before making quick work of brushing my teeth and washing my face. After fighting with my hair and losing I decide just to throw it up in a messy bun. I take out my contacts and put on my glasses before heading back into my bedroom. I walk over to my suitcase and pull out a pair of shorts and a oversized T-shirt along with a pair of fuzzy socks. After getting dressed I walk outside to be met with none other than Victoria and Jonas.

"Oh hi! You must be Lauren!"

"It Lacey"

"Oh I'm so sorry. My names Victoria but my friends all call me Vikki"

"Nice to meet you Victoria"

She chuckles

"Oh you can call me Vikki, after all we're gonna be great friends"

She was to much. And it was to early in the morning to deal with this much.

"We are?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.

"I mean of course we are! We're roommates after all! Besides I feel like I already know so much about you from what Jonas and Spencer have said!"

Great so not only was she living here to but they've talked about me to her.

I just smile at her. Because if I didn't I'm sure I would've ripped her acrylic nails right off.

"Spencer left for school already, and Vikki and I have to be somewhere so Benji will be here in a few hours to spend some time with you" Jonas says pouring a cup of coffee.

He starts in my direction holding out the cup towards me but I ignore him and walk over to the counter to grab my own cup. It's not like I was completely worthless. I pour my cup of coffee with a yawn and grab another one for Nova. She needed coffee in the morning or else she was a monster.

"I don't need a babysitter Jonas. I'm old enough to take care of myself!" I snap at him

"And besides I have Nova, she stayed over and once she wakes up we'll just hang out"

Jonas looks upset at my outburst but doesn't say anything.

"Oh Lacey, he didn't mean it like that. He just wanted to make sure you weren't alone since you haven't been here in forever." Vikki chimes in.

"Yeah well it's not his concern"

She furrows her eyebrows looking sad, like no one had ever talked to her like that.

"Well you have fun, we have to get going but it was great meeting you!" She chirps before snaking her arm through Jonas's and heading to the door clopping in her heels.

I was really starting to not like her.

Before they leave Jonas glances over his shoulder at me and gives me the same look he had last night. The emotion I couldn't detect. But then the door is shut behind them as they make their way to wherever the hell they were going.

"Benji would you cut it out! You're annoying to shit out of me!" Nova snaps at him as he continues to poke her side.

"Hmm I'll think about it... nah" he says before poking her again.

"That's it!" She screams before grabbing a pillow and hitting him in the face with it.

I just laugh at the two of them as they get into a mini pillow fight. Nova was not letting up so kept pounding him in the face until eventually he gives up.

"Okay fine you win"

She sticks her tongue out at him before stomping away and into the bedroom.

"So Lace. How's Europe been treating you?"

"Eh, the food is good but it ain't got nothing in Birchwood"

He chuckles which makes his hazel eyes glow.

"Well you look great. You've really grown up"

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing just that... you uh look really good" he stutters and I notice a pink creep into his cheeks.

"Well Thanks Benji."

He smiles at me and scoots closer to me on the couch before slinging his arm around my shoulder like he always did when we were younger.
I lean on his shoulder and he places his cheek on the top of my head.

"Hey Benji can I ask you a question."

"Shoot"

"What do you think of Victoria?"

He chuckles.

"Where do I begin? I mean she's way out of his league, I don't even know why she's with him to be honest. Although she seems to make him happy, not to toot my own horn but I think I make a pretty good matchmaker"

So he's who I should hate.

Wait what?

"But I mean she's super sweet and smart. And she's really pretty."

I hated to admit it but he was right. She was perfect. She had a figure to her and she was tall and she had beautiful eyes and her hair never seemed to be messy. Even in the short time I've known her she seems to have everything. She's perfect.

"How long have they been together?"

"Almost 3 years. They got together shortly after you left, he went into this really weird phase and he wouldn't leave his room for the longest time, mom and dad got him a guitar so he could do something. And they met at one of my games. He had finally decided to come out of the house and go and she was there supporting her little sister who was in the marching band. After the game Jonas and I were talking when she came down and complimented me on how well I played. And they just hit it off."

Now I hated her even more. She had to be a prefect girl. No wonder everyone loved her.

"Hey Lace?"

"Yeah?"

"You wanna go skating? We can hang out just the two of us like old times?"

"What about Nova?"

"I'm sure she'll be fine hanging out with Dakota, or she'll work on her paintings. She's been a busy woman"

I chuckle at him.

"Sure I'd love to."

"Great it's a date then! I'll pick you up tomorrow around 5? We can grab a bite to eat and then head to the rink."

A date? I mean I hadn't thought of Benji that way. He was my friend. But I guess maybe he could be more.

"Sure. It's a date!"

The smile on his face makes me happy. Benji is the only one that actually seems to get me. Nova always is hooked on Dakota and Spencer is constantly at school. And Jonas didn't give a rats ass anymore. So maybe this thing with Benji could actually work. Maybe?
