Chapter 3 - Teacher vs student

"Well if it's isn't my favorite student." The girl said as got out of the car and came to her. "Ms.Disantos, what are you doing here? This is not a right time, I have a boy with me right now." Ellie commanded. "I came here to challenge you." Letty said. "For what?" Ellie asked. "To a race and I assuming you're gonna chicken out." Letty answered. "I'd suggest you back off if you don't want me to scold your ass if I have to." I said as I jumped in. "You shut up. Ellie, are you gonna race me or what?" Letty asked. "I'd say her take her on." I whispered to Ellie. "I'll do it." Ellie answered. "We're doing it at Canyon highway down to Gold Coast Mountains. 8:45 p.m." Letty said. Ellie nodded. 8:45 p.m. "This'll be a one round match. We're going downhill. The goal is gonna be at the gas station after we pass the Valencia Hill. We are gonna do a lead and chase style. You'll chase and I'll lead on the first run, then I'll chase and you'll lead on the second run. Is that gonna work for you?" Letty suggested. "Sure, whatever you say." Ellie answered. "Then let's do this." Letty said as she got in her Z32 and Ellie got in her RX-8. "You sure you're gonna be fine?" I asked. "Just trust me, I'll win this race. It's really simple, I won't turn this into a second run. I'm only gonna leave it to a first run and I won't lose this race. Get in the car with me so I don't have to come back all the way up here to pick you up." Ellie commanded. I opened the door and I got in the car. I put on the racing harness and I held on to the hand bar. "This is gonna be like a roller coaster ride." I said in my mind. The Z32 turned on it's hazard lights which signals Ellie to start the race and she turns it off and floors it. "This is it, okay now go for it!" Ellie said in her mind as she floored it after they reached the first corner. The car's tire were squealing as they entered the corner with braking drifts. "This car is a beauty. It can attack the corners without hesitating to lose control. But it may lose control if I don't know what I'm doing or the tires may be worn." Letty said in her mind as she drifted the corner. "Well she's not bad, but at any moment she is gonna pull away and widen the gap. She's taking those corners faster than I am when attacking it, but might as well do it to close the gap. I am gonna have to perform the gutter run to close the gap and attack the corners faster than she is." Ellie said in her mind as she floored it and drifted into the corner fast. The RX-8 was now closing the gap between the Z32. "I see how it is. Try keeping up with me if you can!" Letty said in her mind as she gripped the corner and then drifted at the next corner. "I'm gonna have to do it now to close the gap. Go for it!" Ellie said in her mind as she entered the corner, hooked her tires in the gutters and pulled out of it after the moments of the gutter run. She caught up and Ellie was right behind and keeping up with Letty's pace. "Woah, she is better and amazing than I thought." I said in my mind. "No! I am not losing this!" Letty said in her mind. They were in the third section and in the final section. "Okay well you're willing to go that far huh? Well in that case." Ellie said in her mind as she turned off her headlights. I had no choice but to remain silent. "Where did she go?! She'd better not disappear!" Letty said in her mind as she moved aside to the right. Ellie turned on her headlights and used the gutter run method before they were on the final section and close to the goal. "What the hell?!" Letty exclaimed in her mind. Ellie passed her with a blind attack gutter run method. "How did this happen?!" Letty exclaimed in her mind as she fell behind in second place and the finish line was near. Ellie won the race in first place and she felt really proud of winning her first race. After the finish line they drove by and parked at Tompkins truck stop. "You're good and you've done well my student." Letty said. "You really think so?" Ellie asked. "I mean, you've got raw skills and you're a god at racing Ellie. How did you learn those techniques?" Letty asked after she answered. "It is usually how my instinct reacts or sees things that can try to make it work. Like how if I start to get a little upset, I follow that instinct and I use it to my advantage. It's not every time that I use it. It's sometimes but it's only when I see it." Ellie replied. "But here's what I wanted to say after we raced and you beat me. I am sorry that I insulted you and your boyfriend earlier." Letty said as she apologized. "Hey it's okay. This guy is just a friend of mine." Ellie replied. "You seem young, kid. What's your name?" Letty asked. "It's Branden Lee, nice to meet you." I answered as I introduced myself. "Nice to meet you too Branden, you wouldn't mind if I ask you a question?" I nodded my head. "How old are you basically?" Letty asked. "I'm 16." I answered. "You're 16?! When did you start racing?" Letty asked. "In the 8th grade I started racing." I answered. "In the 8th grade?! Damn, this kid is young and I'm assure he has done racing for many years and he knows what he's doing. He may have learned those techniques from some other racing instructor he has met." Letty said in her mind. "So, do you want to go somewhere to eat for dinner?" Ellie asked. "Yeah sure, I don't have any plans tonight so yeah. We can have a nice dinner together along with this kid." Letty answered. San Mateo Prime. "So Branden, what type of food you eat here?" Ellie asked. "Mostly I would eat the San Mateo Prime cut along with the baked potato on the side. Because mostly, a racer has to go with something balanced right for his lunch or dinner or whatever you know it. It's more like I need to figure ways on how I can step on the accelerator properly. What about you Ellie?" I asked. "I would mostly go with The Avenue Cut along with creamed corn and sometimes garlic fries. The difference is you're a male and I'm a female. A male usually eats a little more than the female, a female eats usually an average amount. But the male eats a medium amount. That's why I don't eat too much and not become so fat. I look thin, skinny and healthy. But you though, you're strong and you're healthy. What about you Ms.Disantos?" Ellie asked. "I sometimes go with Buffalo wings and crispy fries but I mostly go with the same cut piece as you Ellie, but however I go with the fresh garlic linguine. It's a healthy choice I mostly go with than just having wings and fries. I am a healthy person just like Branden, but I am strong like him too. Right?" Letty answered. "Yeah." I replied. The food arrived and I took a bite of my prime rib. "So, what do you think of the taste?" Ellie asked. "I think of it as a premium steak and it's tastes really good just like the other steaks I eat at other steakhouses but I don't go there that much. With some pepper, it adds a little spice but it's okay with me. I mean it's like I don't have any problems focusing on learning to accelerate more on the Solstice." I answered as I took a bite of my baked potato with onions, bacon and sour cream. "My steak with the creamed corn doesn't taste that bad but after all, it's a healthy dinner for me today and I love it. What about your's Ms.Disantos?" Ellie asked after she replied. "I like the steak though, this is my second time trying it along with the garlic linguine. The linguine is like noodles or yakisoba but different though." Letty answered as she took a bite of her Garlic Linguine. "This is just too good." Ellie said as she took a bite of her creamed corn and then a bite of her Avenue cut steak. Half an hour later. Branden's house. "Thank you for the night Branden, I hope to see you tomorrow." "Can I have your number?" Ellie asked. "It was nice meeting you, let's hope we can do it again." Letty said as she waved bye. I wrote my number down and I gave it to Ellie. "Thank you so much." Ellie said as she gave a smile and a wink to me. He cleared his throat, blushed and felt embarrassed. "Letty can I ask you a question?" I asked. "Yeah, what is it?" Letty asked. "I was wondering if you can do something for me, would you like to lead our group The Drifting Hazards? Have you been a team leader before?" I asked. "I am more than happy to lead the group Branden. Yes, I would like to lead your group." Letty answered. "Thank you Ms.Letty, I'll see you guys tomorrow." I replied as I opened the door and I went in and closed it. Ellie and Letty got back in the car and drove home. I took off my shoes and walked back to my room. I took off my pants and my shirt and changed into my pajamas. I laid down on the bed and I went to sleep. When I was sleeping, I heard my mom opening the door and smiling at me, she walked up to me and gave me a good night kiss. She closed the door after she walked out and she went back to her room. I gave a smile and I slept.
