Chapter 20 - Deadly Canyon Duel and the last race

Safehouse. 2:30 p.m. "So we have one more opponent left and his home course is on Deadfall Junction. One of the mostly deadly passes on the mountain." I said. "I guess I'll take him on since you and Ms.Disantos raced him." Ellie replied. "Let is hope to see what it turns out like." I said. Hours later. 8:45 p.m. Deadfall Junction. The Supra was behind the Murciélago. The Murciélago was faster on the 1st corner. "He's fast!" Ellie said in her mind as she saw the Murciélago warping through the 1st - 4th corners. "I can't keep up, he's driving on rails." Ellie said in her mind as she floored it through the chicane sections to the 1st bend and the Murciélago still pulled away. They approached a series of 4 hairpin turns. "Even though I can't keep up on the straightaways. But it's possible for me to catch up on the corners, the only way is to exceed the corner's speed limit faster than his. I'll have to push it harder." Ellie said in her mind as she braked into the 1st hairpin, drifted and gripped the inside on the 2nd hairpin. "Damn! She's keeping up with me! I can't lose her on the corners!" Cody exclaimed in his mind as he floored it on the 3rd and 4th hairpin but couldn't lose the Supra. The Supra attacked the corners faster than the Murciélago but could manage to keep up with it. "Okay you're willing to win huh? Well in that case." Ellie said in her mind as she turned off the headlight switch and her headlights were off as they approached the curvy section that leads to the 1st bridge on a right turn. "Where'd she go? She was on rear view mirror? What's going on? Her headlights were practically on my trunk a second weren't they? This can't be happening!" Cody said in his mind as he turned to the outside lane and Ellie saw the opening. She floored it and turned her headlights back on and she went side by side with the Murciélago. "What the hell?!" Cody exclaimed in his mind as he saw the Supra side by side and passed him. He lets off the accelerator and stops the car. Ellie kept driving and then realized that she just won the race. Finish. "That was a close race. The Murciélago was my worst nightmare, he was so fast I couldn't keep up with him on the corners. But still, I had to use that technique because I don't want to lose so that was the only way I won. Thank you Supra." Ellie said as she kneeled, looked at the Supra and gave it a pat on the bumper. She imagined that the car smiled at her. Safehouse. Days later. "Hey Branden, you got a message from the bosses we've beaten." Letty said as she gave the letter to me. "Dear Branden, you have been challenged by us three to a race. This is as far as you go! If you want to take on Josh, you have to go through all three of us and our new rides. The Canyon and the City, you got to beat us in both first. No need for Josh to soil us in his hands!" I replied as I read. "You're gonna take em on right?" Gillian asked. "Yeah I will, but before we do that. We need to modify the car." I answered. Minutes later. "Wow, I can't believe it. She looks like a totally different car. New engine, rims, hood, Wide Body Kit, paint job and we had to remove the Roof Scoop." Kaylyn said as she looked at the R34. "Branden, I want to wish you good luck. We're all counting on you." Michael said as he gave a pat to me. "Thanks for fixing the car Michael. You're the best." I replied. 11:00 p.m. Desperation Ridge. "Are we good to go?" Gavin asked. "Yeah we're good to go. We don't have any traffic incoming so you guys should be able to start the race." Gillian answered. "On my count 5-." Gillian stuttered as she was about to start but Ellie stops and she runs up to her. "Hold on! Let me start the countdown Gillian. When Branden is racing against tough opponents when I'm there." Ellie said. "Okay then. You start the countdown." Gillian replied as she walked off the road. "We're starting the countdown ladies and gentlemen! Starting in 3, 2, 1... GO!!" Ellie exclaimed as she starts the countdown and the cars went past her while it blew her hair. "Branden shouldn't have a problem keeping up with those cars. It's modifications should definitely be useful to his advantage. Don't lose Branden, I'll be waiting for you after this race and against Darius." Ellie said in her mind. They approached the 16th corner. I made a move on the inside and passed the Murciélago. "Too easy." I said in my mind as I floored it on the last few corners and warped in the zone and won the 1st race. Minutes later. Fortuna. "Second run, I'm gonna have to pace myself and push hard at the end." I said in my mind as I revved the car and the engine. "Ready... 3, 2, 1, GO!!" Gillian exclaimed as she started the countdown and the cars launched. The Murciélago was in 1st and I was in 3rd place. "Guys, rendezvous at the finish line." Letty commanded as she got in her car and the others got in their cars and drove to the finish line. "Let's see if this kid can keep up." Karina said in her mind as she and Cody took a shortcut section. I followed them to catch up. "What? How can this kid know the course and how is he keeping up?" Cody wondered. I passed the Challenger on the straightaway that leads to Downtown Palmont. During the moments of passing it. I pressed the NOS 1 that pushed out a little boost from the car. I floored it and then I made my move on passing. "Crap! Cody don't let him pass you, he's not winning this." Karina commanded. Cody nodded as he blocked me from taking the inside or the outside on the hard turn. "No, you're not passing me!" Cody exclaimed in his mind. "There's no room to make here. Well... I guess I'll have to make my move on the section that leads me to Kempton and back here but a different direction. After that, it will take us to a tunnel section that leads us to Silverton. I'll have to attempt to make a move there." I said in my mind as I floored it to the max. The RPMS were revving high and the Exhaust backfired while I drove hard. I tried to attack from the outside to trick him and make him think I'm taking there. On the road. Kempton. "Yeah, loud and clear. Thanks. You won't believe what I'm telling you this Letty. Branden's technique has everyone amazed and they all think he's starting to be a superstar. Isn't this amazing." Gillian said. "The kid's amazing but remember, he's going up against a car that can easily become a threat to him. It's the Murciélago." Letty explained. "Huh, what do you mean the Murciélago can be a threat to him?" Gillian asked. "The Murciélago can pull away on the straightaways if they're long. If they short, Branden should be able to have a chance to keep up with them. On the bright side, the GT-R can keep up on the corners because of it's changed steering settings and he shouldn't have any problem controlling the car at a much higher level." Letty answered. Downtown Palmont. "He's taking the outside?! Is he nuts?!" Cody exclaimed as he saw me trying to attempt a move on the outside. We approached the Silverton section after the tunnel. I attempted to pass on the outside again. "Oh great, he's going outside again." Cody said as he turned to the outside of the turn. "Now!!" I exclaimed in my mind as I braked into the corner and turned off my headlights. "Wait. Where'd he go?! It can't be! What the hell?!" Cody exclaimed as he saw me taking the inside of the turn while he was on the outside and I passed him there. After the last turn, we approached a curve section, and I gripped the inside and pushed both of the nozzle buttons and the boost started to push hard. "Yes! I did it!" I exclaimed in my mind. Everyone was at the finish line cheering for me. I got out of the car and cheered. "I knew you could do it!" Gillian exclaimed. "Great job Branden! Now take down that R8 and take that victory to be ours!" Kaylyn exclaimed as she gave me a high five. "We lost." Jordan said. "Don't worry, I'll take his R34 down if I can." Josh replied as he got in his car and drove to the start line. I took a drink of water and I got in my car. I took the oncoming lane to the incoming lane. I u turned and reversed next to the R8. I drove next to it. Josh opened his window and I opened it. "You know how I spent that money you got framed for? I bought Cordelia everything that you couldn't." Josh said. "Not a chance, you won't be able to take me down." I replied as I closed my window and he closed his window too.
