Chapter 21 - The ultimate champion and a victory

Silverton. Lucky Towers. "Here we go boys! 3, 2, 1, GO!!" Kaylyn exclaimed as she started the countdown and the R8 and I launched at the same time. "Way to lead, like half a car length!" Michael exclaimed. "Don't let him pass." Adena commanded. "They're coming up on the corner, who's it gonna be?!" Karina exclaimed. We approached the 1st corner and I passed him which means I was in the lead. Then I approached the 12th corner. "Well, let's see how well you control that GT-R once I bump you off the road." Josh said in his mind as he tapped my car's rear left fender from behind and I spun out but I managed to recover from it. I started to show a little anger inside my veins and a shadow was covering half of my face which was an unrevealed face. I started to grasp the wheel hard and I floored it hard. "That was on purpose, now I'm pissed. I refuse losing a race to a cheating scum like you!" I exclaimed in my mind as I drove in rage. I attacked the corners very hard to keep up with the R8. "What he's keeping up with me?! But how?!" Josh exclaimed as he saw me bumping the guardrail on the corner and pushing it hard. I gripped the inside again. "Oh no, he's not gonna bump me back. Is he?" Josh wondered in his mind as he saw me taking the inside and thinking I was gonna bump him back but I didn't. We approached the final corner and I passed him there. I crossed the line first and the 1st race was over which leads to the canyon. Eternity Pass. The R8 was next to me and we revved our cars. "No one can't touch me." Josh said as he opened his window. "Branden, I have one piece of advice for you before you start. The R8 is fast on the corners and the straightaways. Remember, on the exits he's gonna pull away from you so don't forget that. Try to keep your speed up on the corners and keep up with him. End it fast like you did against Dom." Letty commanded as she puts her arm on the window. "I understand. I'll end it fast." I replied as I closed the window and Letty backed off a bit. Ellie goes up to the start. "She's doing it again?" Gillian wondered. "In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. GO!!" Ellie exclaimed as she starts the countdown and the cars launched. "Be careful out there Branden. Don't lose, win this one for me." Ellie said in her mind as she saw the cars approaching the 1st corner. And we approached the 2nd corner. The R8 warped through the turn. "Damn, he's fast." I said in my mind as I saw it warping through the hairpins. "Even though I could or could not catchup on the straightaways. He still pulls away from me. This course has a few straightaway and that's where he could easily pull away. I can't keep up with him, what should I do?" I wondered in my mind as I saw it warp again through the 3rd and 4th hairpin. It warped again. "It's bad." I said in my mind as it warped. "It's bad." I said again as it warped through the tunnel section and hairpin section. "It's really bad..." I said in my mind as I saw it warp. "Well I guess I have no choice. If you're willing to pull away from me? Then I won't let you." I said in my mind as I approached the chicane and turned off the headlight switch which caused the headlights to go off. "Huh? He disappeared?! But how?!" Josh exclaimed as he went to the inside of the turn. I saw the point of the outside, floored it and turned on my headlights. "What the hell?! Are you kidding me?!" Josh exclaimed again as I passed him on the outside. Now I'm warping through the last few corners and in the zone. "No no no no no no no! No!" Josh exclaimed as he tried to catch up with me. "Come on GT-R hold it together!" I exclaimed in my mind as I floored it but felt the R8 trying to pass me on the curve and after the straightaway. But then when I pushed it hard. I started to noticed that I over revved the engine and I heard a blow coming out of it. The tires of my R34 locked up and sent it into a spin. Josh spun out as well but didn't crash into me. However, I stepped on the clutch to free the tires and regain control of the car. But then it was backwards and Josh got back in control. However he lost the race when I crossed the finish line first backwards with a blown engine. Everyone was at the finish line and they cheered for me. A echo was heard all over the mountain realizing that the R34 won. Minutes later. Silverton. "I'm sorry Branden. We couldn't think of any other strategy than this." Michael said. "Hey it's my mistake that I did. I didn't notice it overrevving when I was pushing it too hard on the end." I replied. "The R34's engine blew. You stepped on the clutch to free the tires and regain control. Now that is what I call a dogfight." Letty explained. "No matter what, I kept praying to win so badly at the end. The R34 had a chance in me and said I could do it." I replied as I looked at the R34. It was shown with a little smoke on the fenders. "Branden! You did it!" Ellie called as she went up to me and gave me a hug. "You did good Branden." Gillian said. "You're now the new champion of Palmont City!" Ellie exclaimed. "Not really." I replied as I was surprised that one of my other members cheered for me along with the crowd. I looked at my mom with a smile. "You did great son. I'm proud of you." Adena said as she gave a pat to me on the shoulder. "Thank you mom." I replied as I gave her a pat back and she hugged me along with Ellie hugging. "Okay.. now that's.. tight.." I said as I felt squished. "The keys are in the car. Enjoy it while it lasts. There's always someone out there who's a little faster than you are, and sooner or later they're gonna catch up." Josh said as he walked up to me and gave me the keys. Cordelia scoffed at him as he got in the car and drove away. "Yeah! Great job Branden." Kaylyn said as she gave a pat to me. "Way to go kid." Gillian said as she gave a high five to me and I high five her back. Jordan walks up to me and I look at him with a confused look. "Branden, I wanted to say I am sorry for my actions about what I did to you. Since you won, I wanted you to forgive me for what I did and now I realized their group is hostile. Are we still friends?" Jordan asked. "...Yes we're still friends bro. I'm sorry too for my actions." I answered as I gave Jordan a handshake and he gave one back to me. "It's good to have Jordan back to our group." Ellie said. "It sure is Ellie." Letty replied as she gave a pat to her.
