Exhaling her last breaths and heart beating loudly in her numb body, Maya's fingers twitched as she dropped her diary. And then she stood on the edge of Evergreen High's roof and dropped her gaze down to the bottom. That was a long way down, but she wanted fall. She really wanted to fall so badly and so freely.
She wanted to be scared. But she felt so numb, it was like she was already dead.
And then she tipped her face to the sky and closed her eyes as the cold autumn breeze kissed her skin. Even hollow inside, she simply existed for a second. And that second, was a timeless moment.
"I'm sorry, world. I'm so sorry I couldn't fall in love you."
And with that, she jumped.
