Chapter 24: Truth revealed

Gajeel's POV

Here I am sitting next to Levy's hospital bed confused as all hell. 
'How the hell is that man still here. My bloody father. The man that backed out on us when I was a boy.' 
All these thoughts were going through my head and it was driving me crazy. I looked at Levy; she looked so peaceful, just laying there with her sky blue hair sprawled across her pillow and even though her face was slighly scarred I still thought she was beautiful but I knew better. She was fighting a war with her own brain, fighting the dreadful thought of living or dying. She is motionless and her eyes won't open. They won't open to see the next few words in her book, they won't open to see the next sunrise, they won't open to see her friends; to see me.
"Gajeel I called your mother and she is on her way..." Mirajane called from outside Levy's door.
"Thanks..." I mumbled "Did you tell her about my father?" I asked
Mirajane shook her head.
"No not yet, I think that is something you need to do." 
I nodded in response and stayed silent. All this thinking is going to give me a headache. I think the shrimp is rubbing off on me. It's funnt how I still call her a shrimp I mean she is short but after promising her that I would call her Levy from now on, it just seems like a silly nick name. 
"When did I become so thoughtful and sappy?" I said to no one in particular.
I sighed and turned my head to the clock next to Levy's bed.
'Mum should be here soon' I thought.
I grabbed Levy's hand and flinched, she's cold. I grabbed another blanket from underneath her bed and gently layed it on top of her and that's when I heard the questioning voice of my mother.
"Gajeel?" 
I turned around and saw mum, she had a grey dress on and for some reason that was the first thing I noticed. She doesn't go out as much anymore, not since Lily went to the hospital so seeing her in clothing like this is different, usually she wears a pair of trousers and a loose shirt and that's it for her.
"Hey Mum..." I replied softly.
I looked back at the door she came in and I could see um, my friends looking at me and my mum curiously, I saw the stripper mouth.
'That's your mother?'
I couldn't help but grin, the only thing that resembles between me and my mum is our hair colour but I look more like my dad, as we saw ealier.
"Why did you call? I had a sweet young lady saying you needed to tell me something urgently and I got here as fast as I could." She said walking up to me.
I frowned, how do I tell her this? How do I tell her that the man that left me alone with mum just came in to see Levy was my father!
"It is urgent but I don't know how to say it." I replied.
Mum's worried face turned into something of dread, as if she was expecting some bad news.
"What is it?" She asked grabbing my hands.
I looked down and the look on her face when I said these words were both horrifying and sad, I have never seen such a look on her, it scared me.
"I saw him mum, I saw Dad, he was in here with Levy, We all saw him." 
"Wh-What! Why is he here? Gajeel tell me why he is here!" She yelled.
I flinched.
"Mum why are you-" 
"He can't be here, after he left us for such a petty thing! It wasn't his fault! It wasn't his fault!" She yelled.
I grabbed her shoulders and stared at her in the eyes.
"Mum calm down! I don't know why he is here, for all I knew he was dead because he just randomly ditched us when I was a boy. And what wasn't his fault! Mum what aren't you telling me!" 
She calmed down and I had Erza and the Bunny Girl walk in. The Bunny Girl got a chair for my mum and Erza comforted her, whilst mum was trying to say something.
"Gajeel...I know why your father le-left us." She stuttered.
"What?" I growled.
"I know I should have told you sooner, I remember you asking me why he left a year after it happened but I told you not to worry about it and when you started being around Levy, I was afraid you would find out but I guess I have no choice but to tell you." She said softly, sniffing in the process.
"It all started when your dad was driving home from work on his motorcycle."
