I felt the cool wind in my face as we soared up towards the sky. It must be beautiful to fly and to have those strong wings. I wished I was Levana instead of this little girl who drinks blood and the sun makes me weak. I looked up at Levana who looked like she was enjoying the flight. I remember watching the security cameras with her falling and then large feather wings growing on her back as she fell. She is new at this and still isn't use to the flying. She acts like she is a pro with all those tricks she can pull off. No tricks were going to happen while I was in her arms though. She flew straight towards the city. I looked over to the horizon on the west and saw the sun finally setting. The heat died down immensely and a cool breeze swept up the sand below us. As the sun dropped lower, bright yellow lights shone from the city buildings. I didn't know what to expect or how to get home to our original families, but one thing I did know is that there was something special about Levana and me, some sort of connection. I was sure I would figure it out soon though.

Small sandstone huts loomed ahead of us. Windows with no glass lined the walls. Sand swept around in the wind. A larger civilization with green grass lined the horizon, still to far to reach in a day. "We should probably spend the night here," I said and glanced at the falling sun on the west horizon. "There is no way we could get there in the next day."

"Ok I guess. But we should keep going at night when you are at your strongest. We will rest for a few hours then we kick start and continue." Levana glanced at the sky then at the horizon as the last rays of light fell behind the land to the west. She carefully placed me down on the sands. "I'll take first watch you rest." Levana sat down on the sands blocking me from the cool breeze. She spread her wings so that no wind could get to me. I felt warmer by the second.

Thoughts flew through my head, repeating over and over. My hair lay beside me moving slightly in the little breeze that reached me. I remembered all that had happened today as my vision blurred. The weight of the kills I made pushed down on me. I was grateful when my thoughts disappeared and everything went black. Finally I was in a deep sleep with no pain and no worries.
