The buttons on the desk flashed brightly as I pushed each key trying to get the picture of the map larger. A large red button sat in front of me labelled Lock Down. I gazed at it for a second before pushing the green button next to it. The red button flashed then an alarm sounded. I looked at the screen searching for an answer. The cameras, I thought. I turned on all the cameras looking around trying to find the solution for the loud alarm. I saw it, a girl, she had killed off many guards in one full sweep. Within a matter of seconds, the guards lay limp on the floor. I stared in amazement. She IS dangerous... I thought to gawk at the screen. She had killed all of them... All armoured with weapons... All that was necessary was a flick of her wrist... how? I pondered the thought for a second until I saw her leaving. I followed her along the cameras watching her walk down the dark and gloomy halls. Eventually, she came to a fork in the road. The tunnel she stepped out of hand Torture Chamber, written on the sign. They did that to her? I had never been tortured before, I had no idea what it was like. I always followed their instructions, to earn their trust, to force them into going easy on me when directing me because I always followed even when I first came here at five. 12 years in the lab was harsh, and I can't remember the smell from outside anymore. I only remember a few moments with my family, the lush green fields, and bright flowering blossoms. That's what I want back... That's my goal.

The alarm... I need to turn off the alarm. I turned off the alarm and slunk back into the chair behind me sighing. I kept watching the cameras see if anyone was coming near me. There she was again... sprinting across the white hall that I ran down. She completely ignored everything else and went straight to the showers. I didn't notice the showers before. I would have gone there if I could. She disappears behind the door then after a while, the door turns to a typical wall. How... How could someone do that? How could someone be so powerful? I stared in awe at the power that this one person could hold. She's more powerful than any vampire I had ever met even though she isn't one herself; vampires are one of the most dominant races. So what is she? The question kept running around in my head, never stopping. It was all so confusing. This one person had the power to wipe out the entire world... with just the flick of her wrist. But she doesn't, she doesn't know her strength. She could paralyse every single person in this lab to escape, but she doesn't. This must be only the surface of her power.

A severe headache swept over me, causing ringing in my ears and a colourless vision. Sweat beaded my forehead, and the hairs on my back stood on end. Something was about to happen, something that disturbed my thoughts. This was a warning, and I knew it, an ominous signal, but it was still there. I collapsed back into the chair, drew in a huge breath just as the corners of my vision were starting to dot black. I must have been worrying so much about her... I forgot about myself. I had been using too much energy... I need more blood. My body went numb, and my thoughts disappeared. I feel into the deep dark pit of empty slumber.

I saw my mother standing before me. She was grinning... at a time like this how could anyone smile? We were standing on top of a pile of rubble. Wood and glass were below my feet. Over to the left was a pile of bricks and charcoal from where our hearth was burning bright. Our sanctuary, the gathering place for our family where we all stood on neutral ground. No one could hurt you or speak poorly of you. It was our place, for my mother, my dad and me. But there it was. Broken and smouldering amongst the rest of the rubble. The air between us was foggy and hard to breathe in. I looked at my arms and legs. I looked perfectly fine. The dust didn't seem to touch my skin but to float around it. I had no bruises or cuts, which I would have surely had at this point in time. My mother held her hands out towards me. His smile faded into a guilty frown. Her eyes became watery, and a single tear dripped down her face. This was the point when I knew it was a dream. I remembered everything that had happened. My mother slowly became transparent and then disappeared into the dust. I looked around again. My Father was weeping on the ground. His sobs varied in noise. Sometimes it was a loud wail and then softened into shallow breathing. His hair was scrunched up and his battered. He opened his eyes and looked at me. I was met by the soft brown eyes that he had when he was in his mortal form. Starting from the edges, the iris swirled into a crystal blue colour, the colour that our eyes went when we lost control. He shot to his feet in the blink of an eye. His face was no longer pink in his face from crying, but pale. He had no tears on his face nor swelling in his eye. My mother appeared beside him to comfort him. He screamed, causing my mother to cover her ears. Others gathered close coming out from their hiding spots. A couple had phones in their hands. This was when it all went wrong. I saw a gleam of silver in my father's palm. He had a dagger, a Vampire dagger. This could severely injure a vampire, but to mortals like my mom, it was a torturous death. It turned your skin black and flaky; it made your iris' bleed so you cannot see. The dagger also had effects on the inside. It made your blood boil, so it burned you from the inside like acid. And finally, it made your organs tighten and close in on themselves. This is not what I wanted to happen to my mom. I leapt forward to my dad, only a second too late. He shoved the blade into her lower stomach so she wouldn't die instantly. She looked up at him apologetically. Not with hatred or anger. Her eyes welled up with tears, and she smiled. As always she smiled through the most significant pain. She saw me and put up a hand then walked behind a wall so I couldn't see her hurt. I felt a fire burning within me, urging me to kill my dad in the most painful way I could imagine. I puffed heavily baring my fangs. My eyes became dark pools. I changed to my vampire form and walked towards my dad. He was staring at the blood on the dagger.

"Go to hell!" I screamed at the top of my lungs starting to go into a run. I drove my own dagger into his stomach so it would slowly kill him. I then ripped it out and pushed it again straight through his knee so he could not move away.

His eyes changed back to his soft brown colour, and his skin became a light pink again. He looked at me the way that mom looked at him. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me down beside him. I stopped moving in shock at what I had done. I had just killed my dad, and not merciless either. He pulled me into a hug and whispered, "don't worry, I deserved it after what I did. Thank you." He kissed my cheek then collapsed dead. He was gone, at my hands.

I was jerked awake by a guard throwing me to the ground on my stomach and pulling my arms behind my back almost pulling my shoulders out of place. He stood on my spine and pushed hard. I heard the chains that he drew from his belt and was about to put on my hands. I swung one leg up that connected with his spine. He fell forward, and I ripped my arms out of his grasp kicking him forwards into the wall. I stood up and ran at him, snapping his neck as my hands connected with his throat. I looked at the cameras and saw the girl running towards this room. I grabbed the body and jumped up onto the beams shoving his body to the side and crouching on the middle one, still in the shadows. The screens displayed precisely what was happening, so I kept my eyes on that.
