Luke’s POV
She likes me back. Alexandria Hawthorne likes me back.
The realization hit me like truck the moment her soft lips slowly pressed against mine, not giving me a minute to realize what we were doing. Who am I kidding? I wouldn’t have denied a kiss from her even if my life depended on it.
My hands found their way up to her body; I wanted to touch her so I could be sure this was actually happening. My right hand cupped her cheek as my left held her by her small waist. Her lips tasted like chapstick and mint, and I found myself more lost in her as the seconds passed by. The kiss was short though, and it was interrupted by Alex’s giggles.
“I hated you like, a month ago. Who would have thought we would end up in my room, kissing and acting all cute around each other?” Alex scrunched up her nose, making a disgusted face.
“Don’t lie to yourself, we both know that’s not true.” I smiled at her. We were sitting cross-legged now, facing each other. Her cheeks were blushing faintly as she smiled back.
“Actually, I thought you were annoying as shit.” She chuckled. “But I think that after all, you’re alright.”
I scoffed. “I’m awesome.”
Alex shook her head, and soon her face was just mere inches away from mine once again. “That kiss gave you bonus points, though.” She purred seductively, but then threw her head back in laughter.
Goddamn, she was something else.
“Can I sleep here tonight?” I asked. I watched as Alex’s eyes grew wider, and I chuckled at how innocent the girl in front of me was. Of course she would think I wanted to have sex with her but being totally serious, I just wanted to share a bed with this gorgeous girl I have found myself thinking about too much.
“That’s not a good idea, Lover Boy.” She started pacing around her enormous room, occasionally glancing back at me as she spoke. “My parents have the key to my room and I don’t really think that finding you laying shirtless next to me wouldn’t please them that much.” She then went deep in thought. I realized that because she had stopped on her tracks and her eyes were suddenly facing the floor, ignoring me.
“Plus…” She then shut up, as if she had realized she was thinking out loud.
“Plus?” I inquired.
“Nothing.” She smiled at me, but I could see past it.
“Tell me.” I demanded.
Alex took a seat on her neatly folded bed. “Evan was such a dick to me, and I hate him for the fact that after all the shit he did to me, it’s difficult to trust-“ I cut her off.
“Ah, so you don’t trust me?” I tried to act like her previous statement didn’t affect me, but knowing Alex struggles with trusting me hurt like a bitch.
Alex looked at me as if I had grown three heads. “Are you serious? It’s not that.” She sighed.
“Then what is it?” I asked.
“I’m afraid of commitment.” She finally spoke. “I have gotten hurt in the past, way too many times. At first I thought it was the guy’s fault, but after all the stuff that went down with Evan I realized that I might be the problem after all.” Alex chuckled, but her words were rather spoken in a sad tone.
“I doubt it.” I tried to argue back, but she cut me off.
“Boys are interested in me for the vibe I give. People at school think that because my family is rich, I have access to all kinds of drugs and luxuries. So when they date me, after a few months they realize I’m not that kind of girl so they eventually dump me. Shit, I mean I spend my own money on books mostly.”
