Chapter 14
Katie's POV
Our Game of Truth or Dare was very rudely interrupted by a three-headed hydra. I had NO idea of how we didn’t see that coming. The huge monster almost stepped on me! Quickly, we all got into positions and attacked. Travis ran over to me and pulled me to the back. “Stay here, don’t get in danger!” I was instantly furious. Who does he think he is telling me to stay back?! I can take care of myself thank you very much. “What? Why do I have to stay? I can take care of myself, you know that!” I replied angrily. “Because!” That was all he replied with. I can tell he was in a hurry now.
“Tell me!” “You just have to!” “Travis!” “BECAUSE” he said, yelling now. I did the logical thing and yelled back. “Because WHAT?”
He grabbed my arms with his strong ones and pulled me closer. He pushed his lips against mine- they tasted sweet and I smelled his hair, it was like cinnamon muffins. I froze. He pulled away, running to kill the hydra.
I probably looked stupid just standing there, still frozen, but I couldn’t move. It wasn’t that I didn’t like it, I loved it, but I would not have expected that in a million years. A few minutes later I hear cheers and I run from my spot to see if anyone was injured. When I reached them I saw Travis sitting in a corner helping Bells. I felt a pang of something- a dreading feeling and I focused on her rosy gold sword. She didn’t wield a knife like Annabeth and she had an actual sword, unlike Piper. I only had my plant powers, since I didn’t really spar or anything at camp. That only made me angrier. They were laughing and I turned away, looking to my side. I saw Connor with a familiar look on his face.
It was the same look currently on my face- jealousy.
