Chapter 24- Untouchable

MacKenzie's POV

I'm sitting in the cortex on a chair with my feet on the desk with a notebook in my hand as I do my work.

Then, an alarm goes off.

I look at the computer alarm.

"Cisco...Cisco!" I yell, running into the hallway and I see Cisco and Wally coming towards me.

"Mack?" Cisco asks.

"Alarm." I say, pointing at the computer.

"It's Iris's panic alarm." Wally says.

"She's at the apartment.I'll call Barry." Cisco says.

"No, no, no. I-I got this." Wally says. "Uh, he's at CCPD, and I'm closer."

"Okay, go!" Cisco says and Wally speeds out.

Iris had gotten touched by the guy you can't touch, I don't remember what nickname Cisco gave him.

Iris is laying down in the medbay on the bed as we all surround her, well all accept Barry.

"I got you, baby girl. I'm not going anywhere." Joe says.

"Elevated heart rate. Temperature's 104." Caitlin says.

"The decay is reaching her subcutaneous tissue." Julian says.

Barry speeds in.

"I'm here, all right? What happened?" Barry asks, kneeling next to Iris.

"Yorkin went after her." Cisco says.

"Why didn't you call me?" Barry asks.

"Because I was here." Wally says.

"You call me! All right?" Barry says. "We have to give her something. There has to be something we can give her."

"It's not bacteria. Antibiotics won't work." Caitlin says.

"We have to do something. Nothing's not an option." Joe says.

"Okay, what do you do when a banana ripens too quickly?" Cisco asks.

"Put it in the freezer." I say quickly as if it's obvious. Everyone is quiet for a second and I look around until my eyes catch Caitlin's. "Ohhh..."

"That's brilliant. Caitlin, you can freeze her arm." Julian says. "It'll stop the spread of decay and give us some time to find a cure."

"I trust you." Iris says.

"I can't, even if I wanted to." Caitlin says. "We're not talking about a cold blast. This is a specific and continuous cold stream."

"Too high a temperature and the decay spreads, too low and the frostbite will destroy your nerve endings." Barry says.

"And that long using my powers, I could lose control." Caitlin says.

"Caitlin, you are strong, okay? Stronger than you know. You are not going to lose control." Iris tells her.

"Caitlin, try, please." Joe says.

We look at the black slowly moving up Iris' arm and she groans in pain. Caitlin takes her necklace off and puts her hand over Iris' arm. Frost covers Iris' arm.

"It worked." Cisco says.

"Oh, thank God." Joe says.

"You okay?" Barry asks Caitlin.

"So far, so good." Caitlin says.

Wally turns to walk out.

"Wally, where are you going?" Joe asks him.
