Liam was sitting in the crowded school library, enjoying his lunch as usual. He didn't really have any friends, so this was where he ate. Usually it was empty during lunch period, but exams were next week, so all the procrastinators were scrambling.
He had his usual ham and cheese sandwich, and his book of the day. Each day he chose a new one to read, which he would pore over into the early hours of the morning until he finished, only to pick another one when lunch came around. Today it was Treasure Island.
He looked up from the yellowed page to take a sip from his Diet Coke, and looked around at the crowd of his peers. At the table next to the check out was a small gaggle of girls. All three of them were whispering avidly to each other. Liam took note of one of their long braids, trailing down her back.
A sudden movement at the table closest to him changed his direction of attention. The table had been occupied by none other than Liam's secret crush and classmate Zach. Zach had been lounging at the table, his feet propped up on a chair, his long fingers drumming on the back of his chair. He now stood, his lanky frame of 6'1" sticking out among the huddled figures. He ran a hand through his light brown hair styled in a quiff, and tugged his usual leather jacket straight.
Liam watched the dirty white Converse come closer to him, and he looked up warily. One of Zach's favorite hobbies was teasing Liam, since they were both openly gay and Zach was quite confident. And he should be, with his large popularity and entrancing green eyes.
Zach sat in the chair next to Liam, scooting it so their sides were nearly touching. Zach wrapped an arm around Liam, causing him to tense and blush furiously. "Hi Li-Li." He whispered hoarsely, his lips grazing Liam's ear.
Liam only gulped, drawing a chuckle out of Zach. "You're too cute, babe." Zach grinned, propping up his legs on Liam's lap.
"Don't call me that." Liam murmured, though the pet names Zach often used did in fact make him smile. Internally.
"Oh, c'mon kitten." Zach chuckled, trailing his finger across Liam's jaw, making a shudder go through the shy boy.
Liam shook off Zach's arm and pretended to immerse himself in his book. Zach took his legs off, and just when Liam thought it was over he was tugged onto Zach's lap.
"Stop!" He squeaked embarrassingly high pitched.
Zach lay his head on his shoulder and murmured against Liam's neck. "Never."
Liam, admitting defeat, adjusted himself and lay his back against Zach's chest. "Why?" He asked quietly, fiddling with his flannel.
Zach took a while to respond, and when he did he spoke slowly. "I guess... I guess it's because I like how you react. It's cute how innocent you are. Also, you're too darn cute for your own good." He growled that last reason in Liam's ear.
Liam turned his head to look at Zach, who stared back, his green eyes darker than usual with lust. Liam puckered his lips slightly and hesitantly, and Zach leaped. Pressing their lips together, Liam's heart felt like it was in his stomach and his brain felt like it was miles above.
"Hanaugh! Swerle!" The librarian's voice yelled, and the two boys broke apart, their eyes meeting each other once again.
