Chapter 19- thecampingdolphin

[this is terribly short but hey, it's an update]

Ryan fell back onto his bed, threading his fingers through his long curly hair. He groaned, and squeezed his eyes together. He missed Brayden, that was that.

Brayden was not only his best friend, but his committed boyfriend of 7 months. He was also volunteering in Africa for 3 weeks.

It didn't sound like long, but when you're used to seeing a person every day, and waking up to a text from them, then suddenly they're completely absent from your life it's hard. Really hard.

Brayden had very limited internet where he was, so Ryan had only received a couple of texts from him, both of which had been merely updates, with no real emotion behind them.

Ryan opened up his and Brayden's messages on his phone, and read through the countless unanswered texts he'd sent. "Hey babe hru?" "I miss you, text me when you get internet" "I love you." "I love you." "I love you so much, I'm going crazy."

After that he'd simply referred to sending Brayden a quick "ily" right before he went to bed each night.

He was staring wistfully at his messages when a little white speech bubble popped up. His stomach flipped, and he shot upright.

The text from Brayden read "hey babe! I've had internet that could make me barf for sooo long, but were finally staying in a place I can text you from. It's a crap ton of money, but I needed to reach out to you. Ty for the messages, I love you thiiiiiiiiiiiis much. Haha. Bye ry-ry"

Ryan grinned so widely his cheeks hurt. "Ry-Ry." He whispered to himself happily. He quickly typed back "I was just thinking of you, I love you too. Keep in touch as much as possible, it's hell without you. Buh bye hun"

He watched it send slowly but surely, then locked his phone. Laying back down on his bed slightly happier, he whispered again "Ry-Ry. Really?"
