potions class would be the only class that amelia, penelope, and willow had together. professor slughorn was the new instructor and as the classes went on, he became more and more kooky.
it had been two weeks since the start of classes and amelia was underwhelmed.
studies had never been an issue for amelia, she always excelled in every class. it came too easy to her and even she wondered why. while all her classmates were stressing over studying for this test and that quiz, amelia would go spend her time sleeping or walking around the castle finding something new to discover.
one of her discoveries being the room of requirement.
it was a tuesday evening and she had done all her homework, deciding to wander around the castle.
as she passed one of the hallways a door soon developed into the concrete wall. stepping closer amelia found herself in the room of requirement. it was quite the mess, and she didn't understand why it felt the need to show itself as she had no need for it.
walking further into the room she heard some sort of movement coming from behind shelves. her breathe hitched as she tripped over a broom stick.
a wand was soon against her neck as none other than draco malfoy stared at the brown eyed girl.
"what are you doing in here, jade," draco sneered.
"put your wand down, malfoy and maybe ill explain."
slowly lowering his wand, draco stepped back, creating a decent space between the two unlike their position several seconds ago.
"i was wandering, and the room showed itself," amelia explained. "don't worry i wasn't stalking you."
"you should really leave now," draco shook his head.
amelia was only getting more suspicious by the second, she quickly glanced over draco's shoulder seeing a large cabinet and items placed by it.
"you need to go." draco was beginning to get impatient, he didn't need amelia interrupting his already stressful situation.
"and if i don't?"
draco rose his brow at amelia, surprised at her remark.
"well, then i'll have to forcefully remove you. we wouldn't want that, now would we?"
;
amelia ended up leaving the room of requirement after having enough of draco's teasing. the tension was harsh.
so instead of retreating back to her dorm she ventured to her usual spot in the back of the library, grabbing some yearbooks from former hogwarts classes.
amelia knew little to nothing about her parentage. all she had for a name was amelia jade, and she had gone through yearbook after yearbook attempting to find someone who had the last name jade. but to no avail there was nobody in the year her mother had attended hogwarts with her surname.
she knew her mother or father's name had to start with a 't' as the necklace she was left with on the doorstep of the orphanage had the initial on it.
the only person who was fully aware of amelia's situation was albus dumbledore, but she never sought to gather information from the headmaster as she didn't care to know who had abandoned her.
the orphanage had a copy of her birth certificate and her necklace, and that was all they were left with.
and someone seemingly had either lost or stolen her birth certificate, making her background even harder to gather information on.
eventually she would look for it, dedicate time to finding who decided to abandon her. but not now.
year six was beginning to be one of the most confusing years for amelia. studies were beginning to come too easy and wanting to distance herself seemed to be her new way of life.
going through page by page of each yearbook, amelia soon found herself stuck on a photo of tom riddle.
there was a class couple photo of riddle and a girl named thalia, amelia thought she was stunning. she wondered what had happened with that girl; if she was still with the dark lord.
"the library is closing in ten minutes," mrs. pince said throughout the library.
amelia closed the yearbook hiding it under her robes as she exited the library, heading towards her dorm.
as she opened the door to the common room it seemed everyone was already in bed.
"well, where have you been," willow said as amelia entered their dorm.
"i was at the library for a while," amelia shrugged, sliding the yearbook under her pillow.
"you know quidditch try outs are tomorrow, right?" willow asked.
amelia shrugged, "i don't think i'm going to try out this year."
willow gasped, much to penelope's sleepy dismay.
"not try out for quidditch? are you ill?"
amelia slightly laughed, "i just don't really want to dedicate my time to quidditch this year."
willow continued to moan about how quidditch was gonna be horrible without amelia there and how pansy would just harass her, for the rest of the night.
by one in the morning willow's complaints diminished and amelia went under her covers with a flashlight going through the yearbook she stole.
"tom riddle and thalia grieves as house and class couple," was captioned under another photo of the two.
the photo was of tom and thalia at a school dance, it was weird to see the dark lord human... and happy, amelia thought.
