Reflection in the Water - A Breath of the Wild Fanfiction

Chapter 41

   Everything was blurry, everything felt fuzzy. Kagami felt herself sinking more and more into the water, pain throbbing all around her body. Her eyes were barely opened, and her mind was slowly fading. After all that happened, Kagami was prepared to meet her doom. She couldn't move even if she tried, her whole body hurt. Looking straight ahead, she could see a figure swimming towards her. It felt like déjà vu as she had seen this scene once before. It was the time when Sidon saved her. As she was trying to focus, the shape of the figure was exactly like Sidon. Kagami was confused since she had seen Hayate jump after her. She felt the figure scoop her into their arms as they were swimming upwards. Kagami had trouble trying to focus on who was saving her as she was losing consciousness.

   The figure jumped high into the air before swimming up the waterfall, landing perfectly on their feet. Since Kagami had gotten air on time before losing complete consciousness, she slowly opened her eyes, trying to figure out where she was. She noticed that she was being carried by a Zora that she is familiar with. She looked up to see Sidon with worried eyes. But something didn't feel right about Sidon, it didn't seem like it was Sidon. Her eyes averted down, seeing this Zora wearing the exact same pendant her own mother had given her moments ago. Slowly, Kagami reached for that pendant around his neck as she touched hers, feeling it there. "Sidon... Why do you have this..?"

   Sidon didn't respond as it got her even more confused. "Oh my word..." Sidon's voice didn't come out from the Zora that was holding her. Kagami turned to the voice, seeing the real Sidon standing there with his jaw dropped in utter surprise.

   Now Kagami was really confused. She looked back and forward a few times at Sidon and this Zora she had never seen before who looked so similar to Sidon, making her feel dizzy. She looked up at the Zora who was holding her. "Is that you, Hayate..?"

   The Zora was hesitant to answer for a moment as he nodded. "It looks like you seen my true form." He gave her a little smile.

   Hayate was slowly putting her down, helping her on her feet in case she lost her balance. Kagami couldn't wrap her head around this, seeing Hayate as a Zora. "You... You were a Zora all along?"

   Hayate scratched his head. "Yes and no. I'm both a Zora and Hylian. Confusing I know."

   Kagami's eyes wandered onto the moonflower pendant he was wearing. "How do you have that pendant?" Hayate gently grabbed the pendant with his hand that clearly has the same ring Kagami was wearing. Her eyes widen at the sight. "And how do you have that ring?"

   Hayate chuckled somewhat nervously. "You're really going to question this next item." Hayate pulled out a sword, the one that was completely bandaged up that she saw long ago. Hayate started to unbandage it, revealing the sword to be the exact one Ryuma had a hold of. He saw Kagami's face go completely white as he let out a sigh. "It looks like I got a lot of explaining to do, huh?"

   Kagami felt her body shaking a little as she felt Sidon put a hand on her shoulder. Sidon was looking at her with concern as he turned to Hayate. "Please explain, Hayate. Why do you possess the same items as Kagami, and why have you turned into a Zora?"

   Hayate let out another sigh as it turned into a laugh. "You see all of this, and you still can't figure it out? Well... I don't blame you. It seems all delusional, but it's not. You see... I've come from the future, unbelievable I know. But... Why do I have the exact same items as Kagami? Why do I look like Sidon as a Zora? What do you mean he came from the future you ask yourself? I can understand if you don't believe what I'm about to say, but it's true. Kagami. Sidon. I'm your son."

   Both Kagami and Sidon both went wide eyed and so did the rest of the people who witnessing, which were Link and the Zora people. Kagami and Sidon looked at one another, so surprised that they were lost for words. Link stopped beside them, just blinking at Hayate's new form. "It's no wonder you wanted them to get together so badly. All it makes sense now."
