Reflection in the Water - A Breath of the Wild Fanfiction

Chapter 7

Kagami, Sidon, and the blonde Hylian were all in the throne room. Sidon was beside his father with Muzu on the other side. The Hylian was in front of the king, standing on a circular platform. Kagami was right next to Sidon, eyeing the Hylian while he was eyeing her back.

   The king finally spoken up. "You must be the Hylian that I was informed about. I am King Dorephan, ruler of Zora's domain."

   Kagami kept eyeing the Hylian, mostly at the slate on his waist. Sidon looked over at Kagami, curious on what she was looking at. "What's wrong, Kagami?"

   "That thing on his waist... What is that?" Kagami asked. The symbol was so familiar to her, she couldn't help but be curious about it.

   King Dorephan overheard Kagami's question, also eyeing the slate on his waist. "Isn't that the Sheikah Slate?" That word seemed familiar to her. "Can it be? Are you the Hylian champion, Link?"

   Sidon was in shock, finally realizing where he had heard the name. "Wait?! THE Hylian champion, Link?! The one from 100 years ago?!" Kagami just blinked, wondering just how old is everyone in this strange world she has stepped into.

   The king let out a majestic laugh. "It's good to see you again, Link! It's been too long! I have heard that you have fallen in battle, but you're here and well!"

   Link, being a man with few words, finally spoke up. "I have been sleeping in the Shrine of Resurrection. As time passed, it seems that I have lost my memory."

   "So that's why it seems like you're looking at me as if I'm some stranger. But surely you remember my daughter, Mipha." Link just shook his head. "I can't believe it... The two of you were so close too..."

   Sidon looked up at his father. "Father, I don't think discussing about my sister is a good idea at the moment. Link looks like he's confused."

   "My apologies, you are right." King Dorephan then turned to Link. "Link, I'm sure that you have been through many trials already, but please hear my plea. Zora's Domain is in great danger, because of the divine beast, Vah Ruta. We cannot do this alone and for that, we need a Hylian's help. Will you please lend us your strength?"

   Link nodded his head. "I will. What's the best way to calm this divine beast?"

   Sidon then spoke up. "To shoot shock arrows at the orbs that's on Vah Ruta's shoulders. That is why we needed a Hylian's help for we cannot even touch a shock arrow without getting severely injured. Kagami here already has a bundle of shock arrows. Isn't that right, Kagami?"

   "I do. If you're wondering why I didn't do it myself... I just didn't think I was up to the task alone. But now since you're here... I feel like there's hope." Kagami admitted.

   "Another reason is because she's still recovering from her injuries. We'll save that story for another time."

   Kagami nodded in agreement, turning towards Link. "Hylian champion, it would be my honor to be of use to you to appease the divine beast, Vah Ruta. I feel like with the both of us working together, we can calm the beast down, and set it free from the darkness."

   "I shall be of some assistance as well!" Prince Sidon struck a pose while smiling. "I can help you in the water while Kagami can help you on land. I think a great plan will come out of this!"

   Kagami was forming a plan in her mind, but there was only one thing left out that would have her plan fail. She hoped that a miracle would happen.

   The king spoke up again. "Thank you, Link. I cannot thank you enough. Here is something to show you my gratitude, and I think it will be much help to you." King Dorephan handed Link some kind of armor.

   Kagami looked confused on the armor, staring at it weird. Sidon saw this, smiling as if he knew the answer to what she was thinking. "That armor you see is made by Zora princesses to give to the man she wishes to marry. That particularly armor was made by my sister herself. I do know that armor could help Link swim up waterfalls like Zoras can do."

   Kagami was still thinking to herself. "If the divine beast is in the water, would there be waterfalls nearby?"

   "More like waterfalls are on the divine beast to put it clearly."

   All of a sudden, an idea came to her mind. As she was about to share her strategy, Muzu was starting to protest. "I have been kept quiet long enough! I am very much against this Hylian, claiming to be the Hylian champion from 100 years ago, suddenly coming out of nowhere! It makes me mad that he's still alive, but Mipha... Mipha is not! Because of Hylians, our dear princess was lost to us. This Hylian does not deserve that armor! Princess Mipha was to give that to the person she wished to marry. She had no such relationship with this shady Hylian!" He let out a frustrated sigh. "First, we let some Hylian girl stay here, and the next thing we do is give a Hylian boy the Zora armor! This is too much, my liege..." Once he was done with his rant, he stormed out of the throne room.

   The king let out a sad sigh. "Please excuse Muzu's behavior. He was in charge of educating my daughter, so she meant so much to him just like she means so much to us. I hope that you can forgive his rudeness, Link. And you too, Kagami.

   At the same time, Link and Kagami just nodded. Sidon let out a sigh. "I shall tell him the truth while you two are freeing Vah Ruta, but how should we calm it down first?"

   Kagami spoke up. "I did come up with an idea that will work. You said that there are waterfalls on the divine beast, and that armor can help you swim up waterfalls, right?"

   Sidon nodded. "Yes, you're right. What kind of plan have you come up with?"

   "Well first, you will help Link in the water by having him ride on your back, circling around the beast. When you have an opening, you will get close the waterfall, and that's when Link will swim up and shoot the arrows at the orbs. Once the beast has calmed down, that's when I come in and you Sidon, will swim me there after you help Link onto the beast. Together, Link and I will defeat the darkness that's literally in the inside."

   Sidon was thinking to himself. "It is a good plan, but you shouldn't push yourself while recovering."

   "I feel fine. I can do it. Also, I have some weapons that will be of great use while assisting Link." Kagami turned to Link. "What do you say? Will you go through with the plan?"

   Link nodded in agreement. "I think it will work. If you know how to fight and defend yourself, then we have nothing to worry about."

   "Kagami is a great fighter! You'll see for yourself!" Sidon struck a pose while smiling. Kagami looked down, feeling shy about the compliment.

   The king let out a majestic laugh. "Then it's settled! Good luck to the three of you!" After the dismissal, they began to bring the plan into action.
