"What the hell, Slate?! You weren't going to tell me? Why is Ryan trying to fight you?"

Slate doesn't say anything.

I sigh and hold my head in my hands.

"Worst of all, we weren't even planning on telling me. I just heard about it from Skylar," I scoff.

"I'm sorry, Bella. I was going to tell you. I didn't know how too,"

I shake my head, "Why?" I ask my voice breaking.

"Why what?"

"Why are you going to fight him?"

He sighs and looks away from, "he said terrible things about you and I'll be damned if I allow him to save that stuff about you."

I sigh, "Slate, I don't need you to fight my battles."

He looks at me, "if i don't, then no one else will, you know that and I know that."

I don't respond and open the car door walking out.

"Bella," he calls after me.

I don't say anything and hear a car door slam.

"Bella. Look at me, I didn't mean that."

I stand still and then turn around walking up to him. "What did you mean? Huh, Slate? I thought that came out pretty clear,"

He sighs and rubs his temple, "Bella, you don't fight for yourself. You just cower down and let people say awful things about you."

"Maybe because I don't want things like this to happen. Fights," I look away crossing my arms, "didn't realize it was wrong to not want to cause a fight."

I walk away.

"Bella..."

I continue walking.

"Bella, please."

I wasn't gonna fight it. He was right, but so was I.

"I don't feel good, I can't see him right now."

She nods, "Okay, I'll go make you some soup and a warm bath."
