Chapter 5
Something was on her face.
'Hello, sleepyhead.' Finn whispered, peppering her face with soft kisses to wake her up.
He was about to press a kiss against her forehead when he heard her voice.
'What the hell are you doing?' Millie asked suddenly, her eyes still closed.
He quickly pulled back with a curious expression on his face, raising his eyebrow and looking at her intently.
'Oh, nevermind. I thought you are a pigeon.' she muttered, her voice much quieter and calmer than before.
Okay, just like he thought. She was talking in her sleep again.
He was trying to hold back a laugh, wondering what was she dreaming about this time.
She had talked in her sleep before, but more often it was some incoherent mumbling than actual words. He eventually stopped asking about her dreams because she never remembered them. What's more, she never believed him when he was telling her that she talked in her sleep. He even thought about recording her to prove her that she was actually doing it, but it was so rare and sudden that he never got a chance to do it.
'Mills, get up.' he said, chuckling.
She stirred in her sleep and opened one eye. Then she quickly squeezed it back shut.
'No.' she mumbled sleepily.
'Millie...' he said, planting a kiss on her jaw and after a while her eyes finally fluttered open. 'Hey, pretty girl.' he grinned when their eyes met.
She looked at him, creasing her eyebrows.
Her hair were disheveled, her left cheek was pink from laying on the pillow, her eyes were puffy from crying just a couple of hours before.
'I look gross.' she said, squeezing her eyes shut with a wince at the bright light filling the bedroom. She buried her face in her hands to hide from him.
'You're the prettiest.' he said, nuzzling her shoulder.
And that was true, for him she was the prettiest - the most beautiful - girl in the world.
'In case I haven't told you lately.' he added, making her giggle. She took her hands off her face and looked at him with a big smile.
He couldn't help but smile at the happy expression on her face. He would do anything to see her smiling like that more often.
They haven't mentioned that she has been crying at night, that they both haven't got enough sleep. He decided to leave it for now.
It's a new day. He has whole 24 hours to spend with her. It was the only thing that mattered now.
'So?'
'So what?' she asked.
'What a pretty girl like you is doing in my bed?' he asked playfully.
Okay, let's be honest, he had no idea how to flirt. Well, he had never had a chance to practice. She was his first girlfriend and they were best friends at the beginning. But she has always loved his sense of humor, she has always understood his stupid jokes even if nobody else did.
And Finn really wanted to make her laugh.
'Finn, are you alright?' she giggled.
'Ugh, you're no fun.' he chuckled. 'Come on, Brown. I made breakfast.'
