And now I'm home again: Chapter ten

Today we'd have to start packing to go to Joplin, we had a flight at 7 pm and it was already 3 pm. I hate packing because I'm never sure how much to bring, we'd be staying for a one week. Instead of calculating how many outfits I should bring, I just tossed them in the suitcase and hoped for the best.  Chris was still already packed, plus he had clothes at home. I wasn't nervous about meeting his parents, Chris assured me that it'd go fine, and I trusted him that it would. We said our goodbyes to my parents. My mom seemed sad that I was leaving again, but I was glad to leave because I was still mad at her about the singing thing. When we got to the airport, they forced Chris to put on shoes, which I thought was pretty funny.

Chris fell asleep on my shoulder right when we started to take off. I didn't mind though, as long as he's comfortable. I put in my headphones, put on my Chelsea Grin playlist, and closed my eyes. After about 4 hours, we arrived at the Joplin airport. It was already almost 1 am, so I figured Chris's family would already be sleeping. We got our bags and a taxi. When we got to Chris's house he had a key and quietly opened the door. When we opened the door all the lights were on, and we stepped in. A thin women about 35 or 40 was sitting at the dinner table with a younger girl about 17. But of the girl's faces lite up with joy when we walked in.

"Christofer!" His mom gushed as she rushed over and pulled him into a bear hug.

"Ha, hi mom." Chris said. They hugged for a bit longer then she turned over to me.

"And you must be Delilah! Christofer has told me great things about you!" She said smiling then hugged me. The younger girl came over and started greeting and hugging Chris, then she came to me.

"Hi, I'm Audrey! Chris's sister." She said extending her arm out for a hand shake.

"Little sister!" Chris added chuckling, to what Audrey said. I giggled a bit, and Audrey rolled her eyes. I took her hand and shacked it and said,

"Nice to met you, I'm Delilah." I smiled. His family was really warm and loving, I already loved them. I scanned the room for his dad, but then remember that his parents are divorced. I was still surprised that his mom and sister were still awake. They must have waited for us, which is really sweet us them. We stayed talking for about 20 minutes then headed up to bed. Chris and I were going to be staying in his old room. It was clean and neat, with a couple of pictures nailed to the wall and 2 acoustic guitars in the corner. His bed took up most of the room, it was a big bed though. Chris took off his shorts and put on some basketball shorts. I put my hair up in a sloppy bun and put on basketball shorts too, and a tank top then we both crawled into bed.

In the morning, Chris's mom made us breakfast. Chris wanted to show me around town after were done eating. We didn't leave for a while though, because Audrey practically begged that  I help and give her hair and make-up tips. She didn't even need to wear make-up, but I showed her how to properly put on eyeliner. And her hair is already adorable without me needing to do anything to to. She has long, wavy blondish-brown hair. I wasn't sure what to do with her hair, so I just straightened it then, I got dressed and Chris and I left.

Chris was defiantly well-known around town. We couldn't walk 30 feet without someone running to say 'hi' or attempting to get a picture. But I understood why so many people here loved him, he was very charitable during the tornado's in Joplin, plus he's famous.  Joplin actually was nice though, its very green, I liked it here. Chris showed me recorded stores, vintage shops, and some cute little cafes. Every time I'd look up at Chris he'd be smiling really big, I could tell that he'd missed home.

-Chris's POV-

I had been really home sick, but I didn't want to complain to anyone about it. But being back home and just around the calm environment, it made me simply happy. Also I had Delilah with me, and that just made me even happier. She seemed to be enjoying Joplin, I knew she should, but I know that she'd also like to visit places like California. I liked California a lot, maybe I'd even like to live out there with Delilah one day.

Later we went back home and had dinner, talked and played cards with my family. Everyone was laughing and having a good time, including Delilah. My family has really taken a liking to her, and she seemed to feel the same. I'm glad that they're comfortable around each other and that my mom likes her. I get this accomplished feeling when my mom approves of my girlfriends, because I really value her opinion. Sometimes I'd wish I'd take my mom's advice more often though. I went out for a smoke break, then headed to bed with Delilah. Lately Delilah had seemed more intimate, I figured she was starting to become more comfortable, which means she trusts me. But I'm not planning on pushing any intimacy on her, because I know she's a virgin, and I don't want her to have regrets like me.

The next day, Delilah and I were going to visit my dad. I was completely stoked to see my dad, he's seriously my hero. I put on a button up shirt, dark skinny jeans and of course no shoes. Delilah looked adorable, she curled her hair and wore a strapless pink dress with cowboy boots. She always looked amazing, most of the time I was just unable to put how beautiful she looks into words. We drove a couple of miles to a small secluded house. Giddy, I held Lilah's hand and knocked on the front door. A few moments later, my dad appeared at the door. A smile stretched across my face immediately. I let go of Delilah's hand, then hugged my dad warmly.

"I missed you son..." My dad said softly, his voice sounding raspy.

"Yeah, sorry I haven't been able to visit, but  I've been busy with work..." I said apologetic.

"I understand, Chris." We departed from out hug, then I wrapped my arm back around Lilah.

"Hello, I'm Delilah." Lilah said shyly, giving a friendly wave.

"Hello Delilah, I'm Dan." My dad said warmly. He then motioned us inside the house, and we sat down on the couch. It smelt like cigarettes and tea, which made me feel comfortable. Lilah seemed like she was doing okay, but I really just wanted to talk to my dad for a bit. He brought us over herbal tea, and we began talking. We talked on hours at least 4 hours. I loved talking to my dad though, he's very smart and insightful. Delilah sat back respectfully while we talked. I could tell my dad liked her, because if he didn't, then he would have made it evident very fast. When my dad started getting tired, Lilah and I left. As we drove home in silence, I thought about just how happy I am. Everything seemed to be falling into place for me, I just hoped that things would stay that way.

A/N: So basically this chapter was just about Joplin. :b But I don't know if Chris has a sister in real life, and I don't know if his dad's name is "Dan", I just made that up. I hope you're enjoying the story, and I'll update probably tomorrow. (:
