Declan and Virgil greeted each other that night and exchanged phone numbers.
Virgil was relieved he had a friend. He just moved to New York and was pretty lonely.
He didn't know that Roman Ferrante was admiring him from afar.
Roman didn't cater any feelings towards the 19 year old, but he thought he was interesting. He found it cool that Virgil was so young, yet so skilled.
He thought the teen looked interesting. Not in the bad way, of course.
He decided to strike up a conversation. "Hi! I saw you dancing, and you were great! You know, you could teach me a thing or two."
Virgil cracked a tiny smile. "Oh, really? Uh, thanks! That's like, really nice of you. You were great too."
"Thank you! How long have you been doing theatre?"
"Umm, I believe I was thirteen or fourteen when I was in my first play?"
Roman was in shock. "You've been doing it for five years and you're that good?"
"I- well, ha... I'm not.. that good. But thank you, it means a lot." Virgil wasn't used to so much praise.
"Group one!" Logan called.
"Guess it's my turn!" Roman said and waved to Virgil. "See you later."
"Break a leg."
Roman nailed the audition.
Virgil was called next and was in a group of other guys trying to be Whizzer. Declan cheered him on.
At first, the young adult was nervous, but when he let go, he rocked it. He was thankful his anxious ass made him rehearse five extra hours.
He did his best not to look at who he was competing against, but it was difficult.
When he came back, Declan patted him on the back. "You were amazing!"
Virgil thanked him shyly.

Roman flopped down on his bed happily when he got back to his condo. He was exhausted, but it was the good exhausted.
His roommate was coming home in an hour.
He thought about making some friends with others who were auditioning, like Virgil.
A day felt like a year and almost a week later, the cast list was finally up. Under it were the names of the understudies, but Roman wasn't focused on that just yet.

He sprung up and practically screeched in excitement.
He called his roommate frantically.
"Hey, Ro," his (probably drunk) roommate said after picking up the call.
"REMY! GUESS WHO'S GOING TO BE ON BROADWAY!"
