It was the moment when we met
That sent my life spiralling out of control
It completely messed up the orbit
Of my mind, my heart and my soul
It was that very split second smile
That you sent me from across the room
Caused my world to stop circling the sun
And start spinning around the moon
Everything was a muddle
Everything was a mess
It scared me that my very worst qualities
You considered to be my best
It terrified me how very close you were
And how important you had become to me
You see I had learnt through experience
That those you love cause the most pain when they leave
And with everything turning to chaos
And my world spinning out of control
I tried to run away from these feelings
Before they swallowed me whole
But you were there to block my way
You were there to stop my escape
You were there to grab my arms and give me courage
To face the demons following in our wake
And no matter how hard I tried to run away
Despite my greatest endeavours
You were there then and you're here now
Always by my side, forever.
