"Nice to meet you Finola," he winked "I'm gonna get you out of here."

"Yeah, I hope so," I said, "That's kind of your job."

I heard the man from earlier laugh as he was putting the harness on Braxton "She got you there, Buck"

"Shut up Bobby," Buck said, "I'm gonna tighten this harness around your waist okay?"

"Okay," I said, "Be careful around my ribs will you?"

"Yeah of course," he said with confusion on his face. He tightened the harness as much as he could without hurting me. "All good here, let's get you down"

He used a screwdriver to loosen the bolts on my safety restraint so he could actually get me out. When he finally got it loosened I fell out of my seat a little.

"Don't worry," he said after he noticed the fear in my face. "I got you"

Buck lowered us both down to the ground and I ran over to Ryan, who the paramedics were just about to cover him on a gurney, without saying anything to Buck.

"Ma'am we need to check you out please slow down," a paramedic said to me

"I'm perfectly fine," I said as I grabbed Ryan's hand and held it in both of mine with tears welling in my eyes.

He may have been abusive most of our relationship, but we did have some good times. I loved him. I was with him for 7 years for god's sake.

I could see a look of sympathy come across the paramedic's face.

"I'm so sorry for your loss," he said.

"Don't be sorry," I said, "there's nothing that can be done."

I look over my shoulder and see Buck standing there with a look of sadness. I simply waved at him and smiled. One of the other firefighters grabbed him by the shoulder to get him back to work.

"I need to check you out, make sure you're okay." the man said. I just nodded.

He led me to a vacant ambulance to check my vitals and for broken bones and such.

"You have a lot of bruising on you're facing, do you hurt any?" he said gently moving my head to the right to examine the bruising.

"Yeah I'm fine, must just be from the coaster stopping so suddenly," I said, hoping he couldn't tell it wasn't recent.

"I don't believe this is recent at all," he said worried "How are things at home?"

He immediately knew from the look in my eyes and the way I glanced over at the ambulance that held Ryan.

"Things haven't been good," I said looking down at my lap. "but they will be okay now."

He didn't carry on the conversation, only asked for me to stay put as he talked to a police officer a few feet away. They talked in a hushed voice, sneaking glances at me.

The paramedic walked away, and the officer walked toward me.

"I'm Officer Anthena Grant," she stuck her hand out for me to shake, I did

"I'm Officer Anthena Grant," she stuck her hand out for me to shake, I did. "You can call me Athena"

She seemed like a nice woman. I could tell from her stature that she was the fiercest woman here.

"I'm Finola Davidson," I smiled "but you can call me Finny."

"Well Finny," she put her hand on my shoulder "You're safe now, forever"

We embraced for a few seconds, and let go.

"I'm gonna ask you a few questions, will that be alright?" she asked, getting out a notepad.

"Of course"

a few moments later

"So you're telling me that the ride operator just ignored the fact that his seat didn't click all the way?" she asked astonished.

"Yep," I nodded "Mine clicked and he didn't, he even asked if something was wrong and she said every seat is different"

"That's such bullshit," she said standing up. "excuse me for a moment."

I sat there thinking to myself when I heard someone talking to me

"Excuse me, Miss Finola?" I looked up to see a woman holding hands with Braxton.

"Yes?" I asked standing up

"Braxton said he wanted to sit with you for a bit," he said "If that's alright? His grandma hasn't arrived yet and he would have had to sit alone in a police car."

"Yeah, that's totally fine." I smiled, scooting over to give him room to sit.

"Okay, you can come to find me if you need anything," he said before walking away.

I turned to look at Braxton and noticed how terrified he looked. He has a gash on his forehead that's bandaged up, and his eyes are glossy.

"Hey buddy," I smiled as I put my arm around his shoulder. "how are you doing?"

"I'm good I guess," he leaned into my side. I winced a little but didn't want him to have to move. I just want him comfortable. "I don't like staying with my grandma"

"Why's that?" I asked.

"She doesn't have wifi at her house," he said completely serious. "Plus she always has worked so I'll be home alone a lot"

"When she gets here, I'll talk to her and give her my number. You can come to my house anytime you want," I said as I ruffled his hair.

"Oh cool!" he said excitedly. "Can I play on your phone?"

"Sure bud," I unlocked my phone and saw a picture of Ryan on my lock screen. I just ignored it and let Braxton play angry birds until his Grandma came to pick him up.
