Quick note from yours truly: If you got a bunch of notifications from the book, just know it's because I went back and added dates to each chapter and tried to fix the timeline. I realized that I completely disregarded time, holidays, and bdays in all chapters before this, but I'm going to make sure to actually put those in the story from now on lmao. Enjoy :)
January 16th F I N O L A
It's the day after the trial. As exhausted as I am, I felt the need to celebrate. That son of a bitch is finally behind bars. I invited everyone to my house, and I cooked the best meal I think I've ever cooked. Just kidding, I just ordered pizza for everyone. Pizza is always a good way to celebrate. Everything from birthdays to, in this case, a horrible man getting life in jail.
"Finn, when's the pizza gonna be here? I'm so hungry." Chimney whined from my couch, sipping on a beer.
"I ordered it twenty minutes ago silly." I rolled my eyes, laughing for what felt like the first time in forever.
I walked over and grabbed a bag of chips, and chucked them at his face. "There ya go, cry baby."
I walked over to the table and sat between Buck and Bobby. We were currently playing Jenga, with Athena and Hen as well. I put my hand in Bucks, as we watched Athena try to find a good piece to pull out. She failed, and the whole tower fell over. We all laughed, as we did the last three times someone knocked it over. Somehow this game never gets old.
As we were putting it back together, the doorbell rang. I saw Chimney's eyes light up, getting way too excited for the pizza to arrive.
I walked over to the door and opened it to see Eddie and Christopher. I leaned down and hugged Chris, and motioned him toward where Braxton, Henry, and Denny were playing.
Eddie pulled me into a long embrace, and then we made our way to where everyone else was.
"Oh it's just you." Chimney groaned, falling back into Maddie who was sitting next to him.
"Well hello to you too." Eddie laughed. He sat a case of beer on the counter, and walked over to watch tv with May and Michael.
We got another game out, and played it for around 20 minutes before the pizza finally arrived. We ate all round the house. The younger kids in Braxtons room, and the adults plus May in the living room.
I kind of feel bad for May, she doesn't have anyone her age here to talk to. I should've told her to invite a friend to come with her. After we all finished eating, I walked over to May to get to know her more.
We decided it was way too loud, between the guys yelling at the football game on the TV and the women laughing at a story Athena was telling, we could barely hear eachother. We made our way to the front porch, I sat on the swing and May sat in a chair across from me.
"So May," I started. "I think we should get to know eachother."
She looked up from her phone and smiled at me.
"I've been wanting to get to know you for a long time, I even talked to my mom about it." She laughed.
"You should go to one of our girls night with us! It might be weird having your mom there but you could even bring a friend." I offered. I wanted to make her feel welcome, and she seems very mature for her age.
"That sounds really awesome actually," she said " I love your makeup by the way."
I smiled, appreciating the compliment. No one really says anything about my makeup, except for that one time Buck saw me take my fake lashes off and he freaked the hell out.
"Thanks." I smiled, suddenly thinking of a fun idea. "You can look through my makeup if you want, I have way too much."
Her eyes lit up, and she smiled excitedly at me.
"Yes please, I don't have much. Mom just recently started letting me wear it."
We walked to my bedroom, and I got a bunch of makeup that I didn't want anymore and laid it out on my bed. We spent the next few hours swatching it on our skin, and she even let me do her makeup. Let's just hope Athena won't get upset about me stealing her job.
