Ven went into the dorm, put his stuff at his bed, and left for English class.

It was terrible. Being in the spotlight, that was. The class itself was pretty good. Mrs. Case was a nice teacher, and nobody said anything mean. Nobody said anything at all.

If Ven wasn't going to make friends, this time would be horrible. Well, the next block was dinner.

So he walked into the cafeteria and got some macaroni or whatever it was, and looked around.

"Oh, Venny!" It was Hailey.

"There's some seats at my table. Oh, wait... This is a cakesniffer free zone!" She started chanting.

"Cake-sniffing Ventus in the loner shack!"

Wait, what? What did she know about being a lo- nevermind.

Anyways, not knowing what she meant, everyone started chanting along with her.

"Cake-sniffing Ventus in the loner shack!"

They kept chanting. Ven felt horrible. Until-

"Leave him alone, Hailey."

Ven turned around to see a boy about his age standing there. He had black hair, and was a little taller than Ven. Beside him was a girl, who Ven assumed was his twin sister.

"You're the cakesniffer, and no one in their right mind would want to sit with you. Come on." He motioned for Ven to sit with him, who happily obliged.

"You're Ventus, right?" The boy asked.

Ven nodded. "You can call me Ven, though."

"Ok. I'm Duncan Quagmire, and this is my sister Isadora."

"Nice to meet you." Ven replied. "Are you twins?"

"Well, we like to call ourselves triplets." Isadora said. "Our brother Quigley died in a terrible fire along with our parents."

Oh. That made sense. But dying in a fire seemed to happen a lot now. Both Terra and Aqua had parents who died in a fire.

"I'm sorry that had to happen to you." Ven said.

"It's ok. We've learned to deal with it."

"That's a little weird, because my friends Terra and Aqua had that same thing happen."

"Lose their sibling in a fire?"

"Lose their parents in a fire."

Duncan and Isadora exchanged glances, probably thinking.

"That's interesting." Duncan said. "What happened with you? How did you get with them?"

"Well, sadly, I don't remember. I had amnesia when I was taken in. But that might be because of Xehanort. He was a very dark man, who wanted to kill Terra for fun. He's ded now, though."

And so Ven began to tell his new friends his about his life at the Land of Departure. They seemed very interested as to why a rich kid like him went to a school like this. Now that was the thing that Ven didn't understand. Why would Jafar send him here?

Well, there was no time for that. Ven had to go to math.

"I'll talk to you guys later, ok?"

They nodded, and said goodbye.

Math. Where could Ven start? Well, for one, the teacher Mr. French seemed a little weird. He tapped people's heads, and said some weird stuff, like "Get off your phone!" Even though no one had their phones out.

Ven was seated next to a kid named Godwill, who actually was pretty nice.

At one point, he leaned in and asked Ven, "Hey, you need help on that?"

Ven nodded. He was struggling in this new school. There was a lot more to learn. So Godwill showed him how to solve the equations graphically and algebraically, and that helped Ven out a lot.

When Mr. French came by, Godwill stopped and started dancing. The teacher just walked by.

Anyways, since classes went by so fast, Ven had no idea that the day was over when it was. So as he went back to the dorm, Duncan walked over to him.

"Hey, come put your stuff where I am."

So, Ven did. Before they went to sleep, Duncan whispered, "Hey, do you know anything about a Count Olaf?"

"Uh, no. Why?"

"Well, before my parents died, they said something about him. Apparently he was the one setting the fire. I thought your friends would know."

"Nope. Sorry. Hey, I thought you would have been in the orphan shed thingy I heard about."

Duncan smiled. "Well, it turns out that I have a guardian. But she didn't want my sister and me to be there, so she sent us here. You'll get used to it, don't worry."

"I'll try." So Ven went to sleep, happy that he had a friend to talk to.
