Part 4
"She died yesterday. The plane flight was too much for her." He pulls the hospital bed doona over her body and a tear slips down my cheek. I open my mouth to speak but he places a finger on my lip, "Shh don't say you're sorry, she'll be in a better place now." "Jace I don't want you to not talk to me because you're afraid of losing me. I can't promise you that I won't die but I can promise you that I'll love you for as long as I live. Please Jace, I just want my boyfriend back." I put my hand through his, and I furrow both eyebrows when he pulls me through the hospital, past nurses and out the front glass door. "Sit here and wait." He points to the steps outside the hospital so I sit down, patiently tapping my fingers on my knee as I wait for wherever he went. As he rounded the corner, I noticed him holding two small objects. As he came closer, I realise that it is two coffees. "A cappuccino with two sugars, frothy milk and a little bit of chocolate powder when we're about to talk about something important." Wow, I can't believe he remembered that.
"Thank you Jace," I pointed to his coffee as he sat down, " And yours is a strong black coffee with no milk, one sugar and no chocolate powder." "Wow, it's only been four months and we still remember little details about each other, it's almost like it was meant to be." He takes a sip of his coffee. "Do you miss her? Your mum?" I ask, tapping a finger on the side of the cup. "Yeah I do but you know what, you remind me of her." He says. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" I giggle as I look into his eyes. "Good, very good. You're so beautiful, kind and you have the best smile in the world. It's so contagious, when you smile.. I smile. When you laugh.. I laugh. I've never met anyone like you in my life." He holds my hands in his, so I put down my coffee cup so I can hold both his hands too. "Then don't be afraid to love me. You might lose me but I'll always be here." I pull my hand out to point to his chest. "In my heart." He whispers nodding his head. "You know you date to marry right?" I ask. When he nods I continue, "Well we're eighteen Jace, we're almost at that stage.. And honestly I wouldn't mind getting back with you." Jace gets down onto one knee and my nostrils flare. "GEE! NO! Jace I didn't mean you had to propose to me now "I wave my hands frantically. "I'm not, just let me continue." Jace chuckles and I laugh along with him. Funny.
With one hand out, holding the most beautiful yet familiar necklace I had ever seen Jace says, "Clary Fraie, I'm so sorry for what happened in our past, everything I did was because I loved you. I love you and I hope that you feel the same way. Clary will you be my girlfriend again?" Tears threatening to come out, I held my hand over my mouth and nodded my head. I turn around as he puts the necklace on my neck. I turn, gently touching it as I admire it. The pendant was a circle with silver diamonds as the border with Jace and my initials in the middle: C.F and J.W and a prefect shaped heart around the words. I remember, he got me this when we first started dating. As I looked into his eyes, a tear slipped down my cheek so Jace hopped forward and gently swiped it away. "You should be happy Clary." He says. I laugh, with sobs filling the gaps where I try to breath, "I am. I am so happy. These are my happy tears." I place my hand behind his head, pulling him forward I kiss him lightly. When I backed away, he smiled. "You know, I'm thankful for any accidents that happen from now on ." I pull him closer with my arm around his back, I say, "Not all accidents are bad. I mean we accidentally ran into each other at the coffee van and now look at us."
