Chapter 12 table tennis
(Brent’s POV)
Binuksan ko yung ref at naghanap ng makakain. Galing ako sa mga ka-group ko para asikasuhin yung Investigatory Project namin. Nakakastress naman ang potek! Idagdag pa yung stress na nararamdaman ko pag nakikita kong magkasama sina Miko at Joey.
Lumabas ako ng bahay at nagdiretso sa court. Dala dala ang paddle ko at bola ng table tennis, napag-isip isip ko munang maglaro.
After 20 minutes na paglalaro, biglang tumunog yung phone ko. Si Miko tumatawag.
“Hello?”
“Hello pare, salamat nga pala sa reservation dito sa restaurant ng tita mo. Ang sarap ng mga pagkain, nag-enjoy talaga kami ni Joey.”
“Ok.”
“Okay ka lang ba, parang ang tamlay mo pare?”’
“Ah, hindi. Naglalaro kasi ako ng table tennis.”
“Ah ganun ba. Sige salamat ulet.”
Minsan tinatanong ko sa sarili ko kung bobo ba ako o……..
bobo ba ako?
Kasi naman, di ba kung gusto ko si Joey I should make a move? eh ano itong ginagawa ko? Sa sobrang galit napalo ko yung bola ng malakas at tumalbog palayo.
“Ow.”
I saw a girl sitting on the bleachers. I came over and said sorry.
“It’s okay. Hey, you have an extra paddle?”
“Yeah, sure.”
“Can I play with you? I just wanna get my mind off things.”
“Okay. I hope you don’t break it.” I teased.
“Oh, I know how to play.”
“Is that so? Loser pays for ice cream.”
“Deal.”
30 minutes later.
“I want three scoops. One chocolate, one vanilla, and strawberry on the tops. And can you put lots and lots of chocolate syrup and sprinkle some toppings please.”
“Okay, Ma’am. How about you Sir?”
“The same.”
She handed us the ice cream and gave her a hundred bill.
“Keep the change.”
“Thank you po sir, bagay po kayo ng girlfriend nyo.”
“Uh no.. she’s not my girlfriend.”
“Not yet his girlfriend.”
“What?” I feel my face turning red.
“Relax. I’m just kidding.”
We went back to the court and sat on the bleachers. We chatted some more and I found out a lot of things about her. We’re both into table tennis. And we both like the color blue. She’s a Math whiz and she also studies at the same school with me.
“How come I never see you?”
“Of course, I’m a year older remember? And I’m very busy when I’m in school. And you’re room is super far from ours.”
“Okay, thanks for playing with me by the way.”
“You’re welcome. Hey, it’s almost sunset let’s go watch it.”
She pulled my hand and the world suddenly faded. This was it. I think I’m in love.
