I don't know how but it still works. That line that Alex said that made me agree to going up to the second floor still makes my heart race, my knees still go weak, my skin burns with the need to be touched by his hands once again. I stumble due to the sudden weakness in my legs and Alex swiftly wraps his arm around my waist to keep me upright. "How the hell do you do it Alex? How is it that girls fall at your feet all the time?" I whisper as I look up at him. Barely able to breath.
"To be honest with you I have absolutely no idea. Could be because of my handsome face and sexy body." He smirks and I step away as I smirk back.
"Could be. But what they don't know for sure and can only assume is you're a hell of a lot sexier when you aren't all covered up and moaning on the floor." With that I turn and leave Alex staring after me with wide eyes and a dropped jaw.
"Why look who it is. You know I haven't seen you in a while Strawberry." I stop and turn quickly at the voice.
I squeal and jump into the guys arms happily. He's got red hair and green eyes like me but was at lest a head ND a half taller. "Jay. I can't believe it. I thought you moved to Singapore." I laugh and hug him tightly.
He laughs and kisses the top of my head. "I did. Got news that you were coming here so I was like what the hell. Wouldn't miss an opportunity to see my little sister." I smile happily as I step back and look up at him.
"How did you know?" My eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"Don't give me that look Strawberry. You know I have contacts who know how to find things and people." Jay says with a wide smile.
I return it yet I couldn't shake a weird tingling feeling. "So what's going on between you and Alex Stone? I saw you two were pretty close over there." Jay continues curiously and I grab a glass of champagne as a tray goes past.
"Nothing. I stumbled and he caught me. Nothing else. You don't have to be the protective older brother all the time Jay. You know very well that I can look after myself." I laugh and take a large swig of my champagne. Jay watched me with the kind of expression you had when you were waiting for something to happen and I freeze, dropping my glass in realization.
"Shit." I gasp.
A fist swings out of nowhere and knocks Jay out cold. Alex was the owner of that fist. People were looking at us oddly and had backed away. The others were making their way through the crowd towards us. Quickly Alex spun to face me and grabbed my shoulders, looking me directly in the eye. He begun to swirl and I began to grow dizzy. "Lillian? Are you okay?" He asked yet his voice sounded as if he were underwater.
Blackness edged into my vision and I swayed. Alex gently lay me down, supporting my head. The others gathered around but they soon blurred into one messy swirl. The only solid thing was Alex as he crashed into focus. "Lillian? Lillian? LILLIAN?" He calls my name urgently yet it grows far off. The last thing I manage to do is reach up and caress Alex's cheek with my thumb before everything disappears into a dark oblivion as gun shots fill the air with screams of terror.

One week later
My whole body throbs. A high pitch ringing fills my ears. When my eyes open I'm greeted by a harsh, blinding white light. I clench my eyes shut and groan. "Lillian?" A voice breaks through the ringing. Ignoring the pain and the harsh light I bolt upright and urgently look around for the owner of the voice.
I spot him laying in the bed beside me, his eyes watching me closely. There were butterfly stitches on his left cheek and he was topless with a bandage around his right shoulder and his chest. "Alex?" My voice comes out croaky and panicky.
"Don't worry Lillian. It's nothing serious. Just a gash and a bullet to the chest, a bullet to the shoulder and another gash to the face. You however had a nasty dosage of poison." He replies with a small and tired smile.
I looked at my body to see I was in a sports bra and shorts. There was an IV line pumping fluids into my arm. Grabbing the IV stand I climb out of the bed I was in despite the protests coming from Alex. Slowly I walk over to his bed and sit on the edge of it. "What happened?" I ask quietly.
Alex takes my hand and caresses the back of it with his thumb. "After that guy poisoned you and I knocked him out you blacked out these people with the french Duke and Duchesses emblem on their coats crashed in and started shooting. I grabbed you and carried you out with the others around us but they got pushed away by the crowd. People attacked and I managed to fight them off but not without getting a few injuries. Nothing I can't handle." He gives me a smile to try lighten the mood a little.
"What about the others? Are they okay?" I ask urgently and Alex takes my other hand firmly.
"Don't worry. The french were only going after you so I was the only one who got hurt. They're completely fine." He says in a calming tone.
I sigh in relief and look down at Alex. Regret, anger, frustration and blame burn through my veins as I look at his bandages and stitches. "This is all my fault. You would never have gotten hurt if it wasn't for me. I should have seen it. I haven't seen my brother in years but then he just suddenly turns up when Macy is raging and trying to kill me. He would always get dragged into a bad crowd." I sniff as tears drip down my cheeks.
Alex slowly sits up and wipes the tears from my cheeks. "That was your brother?" He asks softly and I nod.
Alex smiles sadly and pulls me into a hug, holding me close. I cried into his shoulder silently. Alex holds me at arms length and locks eyes with me. "You're brother is a backstabbing bastard for poisoning you. If I know anything it's that he doesn't deserve to have someone like you in his family." He whispers and strokes my cheek with his thumb as he cups my face.
"You always know what to say to me." I whisper with a small laugh before cupping the back of his neck and pulling him closer, crashing our lips together in a strong, passionate kiss.
